Mental Health Clinician - Per Diem The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Job Description Under the direction of the Director of Program Services, the Mental Health Clinician will be responsible for providing mental health services to inmates in a correctional setting including crisis intervention, screening, assessment and evaluation, psychoeducational services, individual and group therapy, treatment planning and release planning. Provide treatment planning and release planning. Understand the relevant accreditation standards, assure compliance, and maintain all timelines required within the scope of the position. Communicate and work with both facility staff and outside support agencies to facilitate patient treatment. Provide individual and group counseling and case management services to pre-trial and sentenced men and women at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility. Facilitate groups focused on substance use and mental health issues and which are primarily cognitive behavior treatment (CBT) based and use an evidenced-based curriculum. In addition to ongoing groups, time-limited groups focusing on coping skills, relapse prevention, and reentry planning will be required. Assist in the administration of standardized assessment tools to male/female offenders and participate in development of individualized treatment plans. Assist in the development of reentry plans and connecting clients with health insurance as well as community-based primary care, MAT, mental health, and addiction treatment services and other supports. Assist in securing placements in sober housing and residential programs as needed. Assist in the administration and completion of intake, discharge, and management information system paperwork on a timely basis. Complete all necessary paperwork for accountability purposes for state grants, federal grants, and locally funded programs. Coordinate with Classification Staff and Reintegration Coordinator to facilitate reintegration planning for inmates nearing release or parole.
