Cornerstone is one of the largest provider of behavioral health services for people with serious mental illness in Maryland. The agency offers the full continuum of outpatient mental health services, including crisis, residential, psychiatric, and vocational rehabilitation. It has three outpatient clinics, health home, and multiple evidence-based programs, including a DBT and a transitional age youth programs, and an expanding substance abuse treatment program. Cornerstone is a certified community behavioral health clinic.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing care management within the scope of licensure for members of a SPMI population who have complex and chronic care needs. The NP works on a multidisciplinary ACT team, providing nurse practitioner services to an assigned caseload, including assessment and prescription of medications within the scope of licensure.
*Responsibilities of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner*
· Conduct psychiatric evaluation assessments, diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders
· Coordinate somatic care with external providers
· Prescribe and administer medications and ongoing treatment for psychiatric patients
· Order and interpret lab and other diagnostic studies as needed to provide high level of care
· Collaborate with family, physicians, and other treatment team members
· Develop, implement and document psychiatric care plans and document all services in electronic health records
· Maintains client’s electronic medical records and other necessary records including documentation of consultations and contact with internal and external providers
· Other duties as assigned
*Requirements of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner*
· Two to three years’ experience providing mental health services preferred.
· Active Nurse Practitioner licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nurses. Completion of state approved Nurse Practitioner certification program preferred.
· Experience in medication management in Outpatient Mental healthcare setting, and substance abuse treatment preferred.
· Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle and be willing to use it for work purposes.
