Job Description









Branch Underwriting Manager - Seneca Specialty Package

Summary:

Directly manages a team of underwriters and underwriter assistants in the Atlanta Branch, which is part of the Atlanta Region of Seneca Insurance. Collaborates with Senior Leadership to create and implement underwriting strategies. Is accountable for staff development & training, new business production and the overall profit & loss of the Branch. Key contributor in budgeting, marketing, underwriting and administration of the Atlanta Branch. Maintains strong customer service focus both internally and externally. Establishes and sustains important agency relationships via ongoing marketing and customer support initiatives. This position requires a high level of underwriting acumen, market awareness and relationship management skills.

Responsibilities:

    Directly manages a team of Atlanta Branch Underwriters/UA's
  • Primary Lines of Business include: property, general liability, umbrella
  • Meets profitability, retention, pricing and written premium goals
  • Makes independent decisions within underwriting letter of authority. Handles and elevates referrals to the next level
  • Conducts monthly underwriting audits
  • Insures a quality underwriting thought process, with appropriate documentation
  • Coaches and develops team members by providing regular feedback
  • Holds underwriters accountable for work product and file maintenance
  • Reviews and completes management reports
  • Together with the RVP, conducts agency reviews and agency management outreach
  • Has an in-depth knowledge of branch's products and services
  • Can clearly articulate Seneca's value proposition and underwriting appetite
  • Participates in training and initiatives to develop knowledge base
  • Travel - up to 20%

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of P&C underwriting experience; with emphasis on Property & GL lines of business
  • Prior Supervisory or Management experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to apply underwriting discernment/wisdom in the risk selection process
  • Strong communication and analytical skills to profitably grow the branch
  • Proficient in software needed to succeed
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Broad knowledge of commercial insurance products, trends impacting the insurance business and particularly the Southeast Insurance Market
  • Location: Atlanta Area ( Alpharetta, GA hybrid - in office and remote combination)

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $85,350 to a maximum of $142,250. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee's contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
