Position Summary This position is responsible for supporting development efforts at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia of Georgia. Reporting to the Director of Development for the Garden, this individual is in charge of implementing the Garden's overall stewardship plan, securing special event sponsorships, annual giving, and tribute donations. This employee manages social media planning for the development department and collaborates with the Garden's graphic designer, major events manager, communications coordinator and business department to execute the development goals Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to work independently with minimal supervision.

Duties/Responsibilities Donor Stewardship
  • Oversee the timely acknowledgment of gifts to the Garden through personalized correspondence to the various donor segments.
  • In conjunction with PSO development office, keeps an ongoing calendar of needed stewardship outreach to all lead donors, such as anniversary of major gifts and impact summaries/reports for programmatic and other initiatives with major and/or lead gift underwriting.
  • Manage communication with various Garden constituents (i.e. major/lead donor birthday cards, holidays and special mailings, donors to various projects).
  • Provide coordination for Garden presence in campus-wide stewardship activities including Thank a Donor Day, President's Club, Dawg Day of Giving, and other opportunities.
  • Assist the Director of Development with coordination of donor prospect visits and other engagement opportunities.
Percentage of time 45 Duties/Responsibilities Event Sponsorship, Annual Giving, and Tribute Funding
  • Assist in sponsorship of events such as WWL, Orchid Madness, and Rhythm & Blooms in partnership with PSO development office and the Garden's staff.
  • Assist the Director of Development with tracking, logging, and managing Gardens of the World Ball sponsorships.
  • Manage the overall annual giving strategy in conjunction with PSO development office for the Garden to build participation, retention and acquisition of donors.
  • Create and maintain tribute opportunities i.e. naming of trees, benches, pavers, Blooming Beds and gifts specific to a particular program (children's garden, horticulture, conservation)
  • Demonstrate strategies to upgrade current donors and identify prospects with major gift capacity.
  • Update GAIL data on Garden donors and prospects, pulls queries, and enters contact reports as needed.
Percentage of time 40 Duties/Responsibilities Administrative, Management & Other Duties
  • Manage all GAIL Garden development donor communications in conjunction with PSO development office.
  • Supervise the contracted Friends of the Garden support staff person.
  • Serve on SBG Social Media Committee to manage all social media planning for development.
  • Supervise the creation, production and mailing of reports to donors.
  • Assist Director of Development with accurate and relevant proposals, presentations, and other fundraising materials for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Serve on SBG Newsletter Committee and coordinate development input.
  • Process and record charitable gifts to the Garden in GAIL, including acknowledgement letters.
  • Attend appropriate Garden staff meetings and PSO development office meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.
