Job Description

About This Role

Translational In Vivo Sciences is seeking a scientist to join a cross-functional research effort to enhance the delivery of Biogen’s therapeutics to the central nervous system (CNS) and muscle. These efforts will be applied across multiple therapeutic areas in the neurological and neuromuscular space, supporting portfolio programs and advancing our understanding of blood-brain barrier (BBB) and muscle delivery. The successful candidate will join a team whose aim is to evaluate a broad range of CNS/muscle delivery technologies in preclinical mouse models with both molecular and bioluminescence imaging readouts. The research projects are highly collaborative across multiple organizations within Biogen, and this position offers the opportunity for the right individual to not only perform critical studies for the advancement of Biogen’s therapeutic programs, but to contribute to novel platform development in response to new program priorities.

What You’ll Do

  • In vivo study design and planning
  • Contribute to strategy discussions
  • In vivo bioluminescence imaging
  • Cranial mouse surgery
  • Molecular biology (RNA readouts)
  • Data analyses and presentations

Who You Are

We are seeking an individual who is detail-oriented, organized, and relishes hands-on work but also would like to gain more exposure to drug development. Given the fast progression of novel delivery technologies, our group caters towards those candidates who can be agile and are excited to learn new fields. The ideal candidate will have a background in blood-brain barrier biology, oligonucleotide therapeutics, and/or antibody therapeutics.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • PhD in Neuroscience/Neurobiology or related field
    • 0-2 years of post-grad research in a related field
    • Extensive hands-on experience with genetically engineered mouse models
    • Experience with mouse surgical techniques
    • Molecular biology experience (ddPCR/qPCR, RNA extraction)

    Preferred Experience

    • Extensive experience with in vivo bioluminescence imaging is a plus
