Lloyd Recruitment Services are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an established, well respected Mechanical and Electrical consulting engineers based in Hampshire that seek an Associate Member (Mechanical Discipline) with ambitions to progress through to Partner level.

The client is an engineering consultancy firm committed to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across various sectors. With a strong presence in London and the South East, they collaborate on a wide range of projects, from infrastructure to energy systems. As part of their growth strategy, they are looking for a dedicated and skilled Associate Member to join their dynamic team.

Position Overview:

As an Associate Member (Mechanical Discipline), you will be an integral part of the engineering team, contributing to the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems for diverse projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects while developing your professional skills in a supportive and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend project meetings with Clients and other Design Team Members, Contractors etc.
  • Carry out condition surveys, feasibility studies, report writing etc.
  • Carry out site surveys for projects, to obtain all relevant information required for carrying out scheme design.
  • Carry out detailed scheme designs enabling competitive tenders to be obtained for the works.
  • Write specifications for the works.
  • Correspond with other design team members and the Client on technical issues.
  • Carry out calculations, both manual and by using computer based systems.
  • Provide budget costings as and when required.
  • Comment upon Tenders and Contractors' installation/working drawings.
  • Answer Contractors' queries during construction/installation period.
  • Attend site progress meetings as and when required, together with monitoring Contractor's standards of workmanship and materials, together with progress against overall construction programme.
  • Prepare list of snagging/outstanding works at appropriate time(s) during construction/ installation period.
  • Witness final testing and commissioning carried out by Contractor.
  • Monitor the finances of projects throughout all stages to make certain they are financially successful by ensuring efficiency at all times.
  • Assisting the Designated Members in identifying the resources needed to carry out the design and site monitoring roles etc., on projects.

Experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional membership of organisations such as CIBSE / IET / IOP / SoPHE / ILP.
  • Relevant experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within an engineering consultancy or design firm.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Understanding of industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Enthusiastic and proactive approach to learning and professional development.
