YOU

As a Field Engineer, you will be responsible for market development activities while working with design professionals, specifiers and steel fabricators to obtain specification of Simpson structural steel product offerings.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Develop and maintain relationships with engineers, engineering firms and steel fabricators within the NW Branch to get specification for Structural Steel components offered by SST. (45%)

Conduct technical presentations for individuals, groups and professional associations involved in new construction and/or the upgrade of existing structural steel systems focusing on general technical knowledge as well as the advantages of specifying of Simpson products. (Training on SST design software to gain specification.) (25%)

Assist with development of marketing and technical literature. (20%)

Evaluate and establish channels of distribution to support sales opportunities of structural steel specifications. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (WA required and Oregon preferred).
  • B.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.
  • 5 years in structural design experience in structural steel projects. Experiences in design of wood, masonry, concrete a plus.
  • 3 years in computer experience (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ACAD, Revit, various design and detailing software). Experience with using structural analysis software ETAB, RISA SAP and or RAM preferred.
  • Construction knowledge: Practical working knowledge of common steel construction methods. Familiarity with Simpson products is a plus.
  • Speaking and communication: Communicate verbally in an appropriate way for the audience he/she is speaking to. Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers, and other groups.
  • Customer focus: Quickly and effectively, solve customer problems and maintain productive internal and external customer relationships. Readily readjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing customer needs. Recognize potentially adverse customer reactions and develop better alternatives.
  • Teamwork: Maintain a collaborative approach in dealing with other Simpson Strong-Tie employees. Demonstrate a genuine commitment to reach mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Driving record: Possess and maintain a driving record, which complies with company policy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, see, talk, and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in both a professional office environment, customer sites and outdoor construction job sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, employee occasionally works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires 40-50% domestic travel. This position will provide services to N.CA, N.NV, WA, OR, AK, ID, MT, CO, UT and WY. Must be able to travel on short notice.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position will be located within our Northwest Territory. Must be located within a reasonable distance to a major airport.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$77200 - $112800 / year

*Posted pay range is based upon national average and may vary depending on geographical work location.
