About KMVT:

KMVT, Your Hometown Station, is the dominate news source for Twin Falls and Southern Idaho. Twin Falls is home to Shoshone Falls, which is 45’ taller than Niagara Falls, and is only a ten minute drive from the television station. The Perrine Bridge, which crosses over the Snake River, is the only man-made structure where BASE jumping is legal. This bridge is almost 500’ above the Snake River itself! Within an hour and a half drive of the station, you’ll find four ski mountains, the City of Rocks National Reserve, Craters of the Moon National Monument, 48’ tall Balanced Rock, the Shoshone Ice Caves, Bruneau Sand Dunes, Jackpot, Nevada and too many unique hiking trails to count! If you are an outdoorsy person, I promise, you will not be bored!!! When the snow melts you can enjoy mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and picnics. Take in views of the massive Snake River Canyon or tee off surrounded by canyon walls and dazzling waterfalls.

Job Summary/Description:

KMVT/KSVT, Your Hometown Station, has an opening for a full-time Chief Meteorologist to lead our weather team. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience with both meteorology and leadership. They should be able to prepare and deliver weather forecasts and tell a relatable weather story across multiple platforms and newscasts. We expect the Chief Meteorologist to create engaging, informative, and compelling news—and help the rest of the weather team do the same. Beyond the work in the weather lab, this candidate will also feel confident with community outreach- visiting classrooms to educate young people about meteorology, reporting LIVE from Breaking Wx locations and other events as needed as well as participating in other public functions.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

- Analyze weather data and prepare detailed forecasts
- Prepare graphics to support weather presentation
- Flexible schedule for severe weather scenarios
- Lead team of Meteorologists guiding them on presentation style and accuracy of forecasts
- Work closely with news management on content
- Developing and reporting stories
- Preparation of material for delivery of newscasts
- Post content daily to digital platforms

Qualifications/Requirements:-

- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology
- Experience as a broadcast meteorologist
- Strong on-air communication skills
- Ability to lead an on-air weather team
- Ability to be creative with graphic design and presentation
- Demonstrated ability to accurately forecast weather
- Proficient in social media platforms
- Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record
