Department Information
The SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY & BIOCHEMISTRY of the GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY invites applications for a Human Resources Consultant. The school has vibrant undergraduate and graduate programs, with over 350 undergraduate majors and 160 graduate students, and an extensive research portfolio. Its faculty, staff, and students participate in a range of dynamic and collaborative research programs and enjoy modern facilities located on a pleasant urban campus in the City of Atlanta, Georgia.


Job Summary


The HR Consultant position facilitates and coordinates application of human resources policies and procedures for assigned campus unit(s). Coordinate implementation of new or revised human resources policies and programs within unit(s). This position will interact on a consistent basis with: unit management and staff, Talent Management Department (TMD), and Office of Human Resources (OHR) management and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit management and staff


Responsibilities


Job Duty 1 -
Advise and assist unit management in application of human resources policies and procedures

Job Duty 2 -
Review and coordinate processing of transactions to initiate Human Resources Information System (HRIS) related to onboarding of new hires, offboarding, terminations, pay actions, promotions, data changes, etc.

Job Duty 3 -
Consult with HR Consultant Sr. on all HR actions on a regular basis

Job Duty 4 -
Coordinate and facilitate processing of formal employee relations issues, investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations in consultations with Employee Relations

Job Duty 5 -
Perform other related duties as necessary

Job Duty 6 -
Perform other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Four to five years of job-related experience

PHR/SPHR certification

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge of Institute human resources administrative policies and procedures as well as human resources related federal and state regulatory requirements. Also required are interpersonal skills, especially as they relate to a diverse workforce, communications and problem solving skills. Use of basic and HRMS computer applications are required.

Salary range: $58,000.00- $73,000.00

  • Submitting and approving OneUSG transactions for faculty, staff, and student employees
  • Creating job postings in OneUSG and hiring packages in GT-TRACS for faculty hires and Tech Temps
  • Assisting with the international hiring process (J-1s, H-1Bs, etc.)
  • Process Research and Academic hires, promotions, raises GT TRACS.
  • Managing and advising Principal Investigators on visa processes such as extensions and changes in status.
