POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Breast Imaging Manager and the Director of Radiology, the QC Technologist leads, plans and coordinates the performance of QC testing and completes all requited checklists while ensuring that all the QC tests are performed according to the timing and technique specified by individual manufacturers, and MQSA standards. Ownership of certification and audit process.

Position: Quality Control Technologist - Mammography

Department: Radiology

Schedule: Full Time

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Performs mammography technologist tasks as required

  • Drive the certification process when new mammography equipment or replaced

  • Monitor yearly renewal for the already certified facilities and equipment

  • Own, and record, the medical outcomes audit

  • Ensure that the center is audit ready at all times

  • Work with vendor reps to ensure maintenance tasks are completed on time

  • Place and follow through on vendor service calls

  • Key Tasks - Completing daily, weekly, monthly and bi-annual tests and checks on all mammography equipment, including documentation of all metrics.

  • Complete monthly visual checklists

  • Weekly equipment calibrations

  • Evaluations of image artifacts, Signal and contrast noise

  • Compression thickness analysis

  • Repeat reject analysis

  • Bi-annual compression with scale tests

  • Trouble shooting equipment

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Update and maintain Mammography Technologists book - Licenses and credentials

  • Complete Yearly Technologist Film Evaluations

  • Update and maintain Radiologist books - Licenses and credential

  • Update and maintain Physicist credentials

  • QC of Rad monitors

  • Update policy and procedure manuals annually

  • Update Facility licenses -ACR, MQSA and DPH

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • AA

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Must have current ARRT certification with advanced certification in Mammography. State license required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 plus years of experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Requires knowledge of principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology and mammography and the operation and maintenance of Radiologic equipment to include mammography and digital imaging.

  • Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and any/all apprehensions and to interact with staff team members.

  • Ability to maintain proper protocol of all confidential/sensitive information.

  • Must be familiar with Mammography equipment and Quality metrics
