Description

Transportation Planning & Management (TPM) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working, and doing business in New York City. The Division's responsibilities include planning, street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility and markings, and ensuring the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists.

The candidate will assist in aspects of contract management including fiscal, budget, procurement, and other administrative duties as necessary and will be expected to work collaboratively and inclusively to cultivate continued professional development and effectively communicate with all stakeholders. Job duties include task order management, preparing documents for Task Orders for Engineering Services Agreements (ESAs), managing, and resolving ESA invoices and billing process, and assisting in the preparation of contract budget modifications of increases for reports and ensure compliance with federal, state and city procurement policies, rules, and regulations.

Other duties include assisting in managing budgets and contract expenditures; developing and maintaining spreadsheets and databases that track the Division's various expense budgets; performing accounting exercises to ensure expenditures are within planned spending levels; preparing written and statistical reports and analyses as necessary to ensure funds are available, recognizing and communicating trends, and convene and facilitate meetings with the units regularly to coordinate and consultants to manage Task Orders for projects throughout the Division . Additionally, the candidate may perform research activities by collecting information and data of current and historical nature for use in the preparation of reports. Minimum Qualifications

For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
