Position Overview

The Junior Developer is responsible for understanding OCHIN processes through active learning, training, and development, and working with more experienced developers on software development projects.


Essential Duties

  • Completes work towards closing tickets, including triage, research, testing, debugging, and communication with customers
  • Gains familiarity with OCHIN's suite of internal tools and the types of incoming issue tickets through the JIRA system
  • Shadows other developers on daily work / projects, learning processes for programming, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, and problem solving
  • Creates / updates documentation
  • Pursues relevant application proficiencies (Javascript, HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS))
  • Demonstrates time management skills
  • Gains familiarity with OCHIN policies and procedures
  • Participates in process improvement efforts
  • Takes initiative to own and understand topics
  • Successfully demonstrates foundational knowledge of Javascript, HTML, and CSS, as evidenced by successful build of beginner-level applications on GitHub
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning and improvement
  • Demonstrates ability to identify, resolve, and/or escalate issues where appropriate
  • Demonstrates ability to perform standard system build and configuration of applications
  • Commitment to OCHIN values

Requirements
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline or 4 years of relevant combination of education and experience
  • Thorough knowledge of systems development methodologies including design, development, coding, testing, and implementation (e.g. Agile, Scrum, XP) and of operational workflows.
  • Advanced skills in JavaScript Front-End Frameworks and libraries (i.e., , , or React)
  • Advanced skills with source control systems; Git-SVN
  • Desired Certifications: Any HL7, SOAP/Web services Credentials or Certification Proficient in Linux server administration

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

Work Location and Travel Requirements

OCHIN is a 100% remote organization with no physical corporate office location. Employees work remotely from home and many of our positions also support our member organizations on-site for new software installations. Nationwide travel is determined based on OCHIN business needs. Please inquire during the interview process about travel requirements for this position.

Base Pay Overview

The typical offer range for this role is minimum to midpoint, with the midpoint representing the average pay in a national market scope for this position. Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will consider a wide range of factors directly relevant to this position, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, responsibility, and experience, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
