Job Summary

Responsible for managing operations and spending for all ground transportation for Raw Ingredients and Finished goods. The transportation manager selects and builds relationships with transportation providers to ensure service levels are consistently met for our retailers/customers while abiding by all DOT regulations. Additionally, the person in this role is responsible for managing cost and service, including evaluating new opportunities for process improvements, cost-saving initiatives, or operational efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

    This role will support transportation needs and provide direction for internal partners, including Manufacturing Sites, Distribution Centers, Procurement, Planning, and Sales.
  • Manage all modes of transportation (inclusive of the private fleet), including less than truckload, full truckload, rail, dray, and ocean freight.
  • Ensure compliance with internal customs compliance procedures for cross-border freight.
  • Implement processes to support the efficient, timely, and cost-effective product flow of Raw Ingredients to support Manufacturing and Finished goods to support Sales.
  • Responsible for bids, pricing negotiations, contract management, and routing guides.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of list bills, accruals, aging reports and other financial metrics.
  • Leverage transportation systems, dashboards, metrics, and reporting in order to analyze data and cost metrics.
  • Work closely with our transportation core partners such as Ryder, TMC, CPC, Interline and core carriers.
  • Design and administer plans for seasonal operation requirements.
  • Communicate with other departments as the subject matter expert for transportation and support changes to the business that impact transportation requirements.
  • Provide oversight and direction for our transportation management services to ensure they are aligned with our goals and effectively support the business's needs, including service and operational activities as well as financial payment and reporting activities.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including new technologies that increase productivity and accuracy and eliminate redundancies.
  • Support yearly internal audit of transportation.
  • Performs other duties as required

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5 years' experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, or other related operational roles
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel & PowerPoint
  • Experience with SAP and their TM system a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Proven ability to make decisions in the best interest of the company and the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent Analytical skills
  • Ability to identify the root cause of issues to implement corrective actions
  • Prioritization of responsibilities and tasks
  • Able to react to changes in the business environment and take on new responsibilities as requested
