The International Logistics Specialist serves as a crucial member within a dynamic cross-functional team, collaborating with Transportation/Freight Forwarders, Customer Service, Sales, Supply Chain, Demand Planning, Operations, and Logistics. This individual is tasked with providing logistical and warehousing solutions for both the International Value Added and Commodity teams. This position coordinates domestic transport and ocean freight logistics. Integral to this role is the effective communication on specific country requirements for value-added services and shipments, alongside staying updated on labeling regulations and production date intricacies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adeptness in logistics, customer service, and cross-functional collaboration to support and optimize international operations seamlessly.

 

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

·         Procures vessels and oversees freight forwarding operations.

·         Manages and ensures compliance with specific shipping requirements for orders destined for Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

·         Reviews, manages, and approves all international documentation from the organization and warehousing locations, facilitating necessary changes and forwarding documents to the relevant customers.

·         Ensures appropriate warehousing facilities are utilized based on destination country requirements.

·         Collaborates with Supply Chain team to source all whole birds (WBs) for international shipments.

·         Coordinates vessel schedule with warehouses and customers.

·         Tracks value-added and whole bird orders from shipment to customer delivery.

·         Liaises with Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) and required departments to anticipate and communicate changes in weekly and monthly shipments.

·         Oversees international customer orders with production, date coding, and labeling requirements.

·         Verifies correct product placement in warehouses to meet customer expectations.  

·         Communicates real-time order status updates with customers and internal teams.

·         Designs and compiles monthly customer satisfaction reports to inform Customer Service and Sales leadership of successes and areas for improvement.

·         Reviews international charges and business costs, focusing on optimizing costs with domestic and international shipping partners.

·         Leads quarterly planning meetings to align with Sales, Customer Service, Supply Chain, and Logistics for customer success and cost control.

·         Participates and contributes to the annual WB planning in Q1 to ensure warehouses are prepared for success based on destination country requirements, including USDA inspection needs, and document processing times.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

·         Capability in analyzing multi-sourced data to derive actionable insights and recommendations.

·         Possess the ability to respond urgently and proactively to address client matters, questions, and concerns.

·         Demonstrated abilities in project management, decision-making, meticulous attention to details, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

·         Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment characterized by rapid change.

·         Discretion and competency in managing confidential information, both internally and externally.

·         Thorough understanding of financial data and business acumen, including proficiency in interpreting P&L (profit & loss) statements is required.

·         Fluency in a foreign language is highly desired.

·         Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.), SAP or other ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems.

 

Education & Experience:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.

·         A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in roles related to sales, international logistics, customer service, supply chain, or similar is required.

·         Prior work experience in industries such as Manufacturing, Food Manufacturing, or Retail is preferred.

 

Working Conditions:   

 

·         Work is performed in an office environment with telephones, personal computers, and printers.

·         The noise level of the environment is usually moderate.

·         Sedentary position with seldom to occasional lifting of less than 25 pounds.

·         May require standing less than or equal to 1/3 of the day.

·         Ability to collaborate virtually with stakeholders across multiple time zones.

·         Willingness and ability to travel both domestic and internationally up to 15% of the time.
