The Pactiv Evergreen Kalamazoo Carton Converting Facility is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, with easy access to the beautif Great Lakes region and the cities of Chicago and Detroit. Opened in 1952 and employing 175 team members, the facility prints and die cuts refrigerated gable top cartons for a variety of national and regional brands, primarily supplying important dairy nutrition to schoolchildren throughout the US.

Responsibilities:

The Production Scheduler provides the customer with the best quality product, and do so in a manner that is cost effective to the company for a high return. This position must effectively obtain raw materials, compiling all of the needed resources, and put together a cost effective plan for scheduled production. The impact on the business is significant when you look at total customer satisfaction and planning that is done at the best efficiency possible. Key performance includes but is not totally limited to safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, on-time shipments, inventory levels and financial results.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Forecast materials to ensure sufficient supply-demand while maintaining manageable inventory for cost effectiveness.
  • Understand each board grade and match to production orders to ensure quality products for customers
  • Weekly and Daily production number charts issued to key personnel
  • Deal directly with supply chain to plan schedules and change overs while monitoring supplies and finished goods
  • Schedule presses and/or sealers effectively for maximum utilization, low waste, and cost effectiveness
  • Be creative with scheduling to meet the changing customer demands throughout the year
  • Plan schedules based on press or sealing crews, longest run times, and lowest waste numbers
  • Maintain up-to-date schedule within SAP for visibility of order availability both inside and outside of the facility
  • Work directly with Maintenance and other areas to plan press repairs, inspections, machinery results, customer needs, and facility needs
  • Ensure all cycles are shared with all facilities, sales, customers, and in-house departments
  • Deal directly with other facilities on production planning during startups with new presses and train on board and supplies when and where necessary
  • Take on a Leadership role while maintaining customer support to the facility
  • Must be able to deal in high-stress situations effectively with Customer Service, Customers, hourly Team Members, and Facility Lead Team.
  • Participate in the yearly HAACP review
  • Understand all facility reports and figures
  • SAP power-use
  • Support all SQF, safety, and quality regulations
  • Reschedule shipments of product in event of stock recovery or recall
Qualifications:

Qualifications: Education, Skills and/or Experience Required:

  • 4 year degree in business administration or related field and/or equivalent experience preferred
  • Willing and able to work 7am-5pm Monday through Friday.  Some Saturdays as needed.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and company systems
  • Ability to motivate, train and delegate responsibility
  • Ability to lead, build consensus and work within a team environment
  • Initiate and manage change
  • Familiarity with the SQF Code
  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment totally geared toward customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of metrics and measurements relating to safety, production, quality, materials, environment, inventory
  • The ability to work closely with all areas within the facility and out, and maintain what is needed for compiling all aspects for total customer satisfaction.
  • Must be available 24/7 to keep all machinery scheduled and utilize the most cost effective scheduling and priority-setting methods
  • Must have good business judgment and possess the flexibility to make split-second decisions as needed.
  • Work closely with all department areas and be a knowledge source for such areas by using diplomacy. Result oriented and promotes customer satisfaction.
  • Operational experience, people oriented, and be able to make decisions which is in the best interest of overall performance and satisfaction.
  • Able to maintain the trust and performance of personnel on the manufacturing floor.

 

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, squat 8 to 10 hours a day
  • Must be able to wear all necessary safety equipment
  • Must be willing to work on manufacturing production floor
  • Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.
