Florida's fastest growing food service distributor is interviewing for the position of *Beef Buyer/Purchaser *in *Florida/East Coast* area. Competitive salary with complete benefit package including health insurance and matching 401K plan.
*Brief job description:*
Responsible for optimizing the supply chain procurement of all beef/raw materials for all facilities. Handles all administrative tasks surrounding procurement of beef. Works with facility managers to ensure timely delivery of beef/raw materials to production & distribution facilities. Works with suppliers to ensure timely, full delivery of orders.
*Detailed Duties/Responsibilities:*
* Ensures delivery of requested beef/raw materials from various purchaser, schedulers, planners, etc.
* Ensures prompt input of purchase orders and changes to purchase orders
* Keeps track of daily market closes, offers perspective on market movement & sends out daily market close reports
* Ensures optimization of SAP to improve purchase process and accurate financial record documentation
* Develop positive relationships with supplier and keep in close contact regarding orders, market conditions, and trends
* Ensure timely resolution of plant-initiated claims with meat suppliers including identifying chronic quality issues, customer related concerns/complaints, problem-solving, etc.
* Works with accounting team to resolve any invoice issues
* Recommends optimal supply chain system including, but not limited to optimal mix of suppliers for all beef products, efficient warehousing of all frozen products, schedule to remove products at optimal time
* Study and analyze meat and commodity markets to forecast future performance. Monitor key market drivers & maximize forward buying opportunities.
* Keep key leaders informed of promotions, cost advantages, product availability, market trends, and supplier item changes.
* Works with production/operations management to improve overall procurement processes for facilities
* Recommends optimal use of brokers to broaden supply source
* Processes beef/raw material and co-manufactured product claims with suppliers, brokers and plants to an agreeable resolution and reimbursement
* Hours: Mon thru Fri, 40 hours work week, 8am to 5pm approx.
*Skills & Qualifications:*
* *Must have knowledge in*_ *beef industry*_ *including but not limited to cuts, quality, pricing, branding, market trends, processes, etc.*
* Supply chain experience in beef/meat procurement, sales, planning, logistics, or manufacturing with financial responsibility is a plus
* Superior analytic capacity and problem solving skills
* SAP or other ERP system in a manufacturing environment is a plus
* Self-starter, driven individual focused on continuous improvement
* Skilled negotiator with excellent oral and written communication skills
* Excellent team oriented approach is critical
* Knowledge of purchasing, selling, scheduling, and production planning of perishable food products desired.
