Job Description Summary

Overview
The School of Business at Wake Forest University is searching for a motivated individual to join the team as a Facilities Assistant. As part of the Building Operations team, this position will assist with daily operations, ensure inventory accountability, and help maintain the building infrastructure. The position will report to the Facilities Supervisor performing routine and preventative maintenance, event setup, and light janitorial duties. This can be a physically demanding position. The applicant must be able to stand, walk, and lift items throughout a standard shift. The ideal candidate is punctual, dependable, detail oriented, has a strong work ethic, and possess excellent time management skills.

Summary: Works within a team as well as independently to perform a variety of routine functions that assist the Facilities Manager in carrying out daily building operations.

About the Role

Essential Functions:
  • Performs daily building and facilities duties which include, but are not limited to, event setups and tear downs, maintenance, and light janitorial duties.
  • Performs general building facility inspections both inside and outside for inventory and preventative maintenance.
  • Distribution of supplies, paper and oce materials within the building and to other locations on campus.
  • Moves tables, chairs, oce, and classroom materials on a regular basis.
  • Monitors building supplies and informs Facilities Supervisor when restocking levels have been reached.
  • Preparation of Faculty and Sta oces or workstations including the movement and setup of computer peripherals.
  • Manages the display and maintenance of the School of Business exterior ags.
  • Daily operation and scheduling of the Farrell Hall re pit when in season and during special events. Training of external attendees when needed.
  • Facilitates item logistics for osite WFUSB storage facilities when needed
  • Assist with the cleanup of trash and debris within the building and immediate building grounds.
  • Collaborate and engage with colleagues, particularly the Building Operations team members, and those serving in other functional areas to achieve operational excellence.
  • Evening and weekend work as needed. The School of Business and Farrell support events during the day, evenings, and weekends. Some events will require onsite personnel for setup, support, and cleanup needs.

Other Functions:

  • Performs many other related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • High School degree or equivalent plus 1-3 years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Punctual; excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Good problem solver and intuitive thinker, with the ability to take initiative to anticipate potential needs or problems.
  • Consistent and reliable transportation.
  • Computer literate; ability to manage email, place campus work orders, check room scheduling tool for event needs and use school issued computer with installed software to further develop daily routines and tracking documents. General understanding of computer workstation setup to facilitate new user installations.

Physical Requirements:
  • Medium work: exerting up to 50-75 ounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently to move objects (primarily furniture).
  • Position is very active- frequent mobility is a necessity (building is four stories plus an attic).

Flexibility:

The Wake Forest School of Business supports events during the day, evenings and weekends. Some events will require onsite personnel for setup and clean up needs. Applicants should have the exibility to manage and facilitate those needs when required.
