The School District of Beloit is seeking a Media Para Educator for Merrill Elementary School. This is a full time/permanent position for the 2024-2025 School year based on a 185 day calendar (Prorated based on start date). Minority and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Hourly rate of pay starts at $19.55 per hour.

Job purpose
The library paraprofessional manages the school library media center {LMC) with direction from the building principal and the the district librarian. The library para will support all needs of the LMC regarding books, technology devices and all other resources that support curriculum, teaching, learning, technology and other educational resources. Duties and responsibilities
  1. Review and select age appropriate books for the students
  2. Collaboration with teachers to support curriculum
  3. Manage circulation desk
  4. Support all classroom library needs
  5. Manage all books and technology devices
  6. Manage overdue, lost books and technology Manage and monitor lost devices
  7. Perform library resource inventory
  8. Administer Destiny Library Management System
  9. Promote BookQuest
  10. Repair, discard and replace books and technology devices as needed
  11. Manage and schedule library and computer lab calendar schedules
  12. Prepare student devices for distribution and collection
  13. Troubleshoot device problems
  14. Maintain building device inventory in Destiny Resource Manager
  15. Set up devices for student use
  16. Submit and monitor progress for electronic tech request and incident reports for damaged technology
  17. Promote Destiny Discover and Overdrive software
  18. All other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  1. Provide excellent customer service to all library patrons and stakeholders.
  2. Strong oral and written communication skills
  3. Technical skills necessary to effectively utilize, setup and troubleshoot technology devices
  4. Maintain detailed and accurate records and notes
  5. Work and concentrate in an environment with frequent interruptions
Working conditions

Most work done in a temperature controlled library media center within a school. On occasions the library para may need to assist in other areas of the building or other locations within the district. Physical requirements
Some lifting, carrying, kneeling and stopping, and use of fine motor skills are required. Extended work at a computer required. Generally, the job requires a combination of sitting, walking and standing.
