The PantherDining department at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a Dining Hall Manager II.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:


This position is responsible for the administration and direct management of the assigned residential dining facility's operational budgets; policy development and enforcement; resource management; maintenance of health, sanitation and safety standards; annual budget development; financial accountability and cost controls; food integrity; quality customer service; facilities management; financial and operational reporting and computer administration.



The Dining Hall Manager II may be required to be cross-trained for another position and/or responsibility in order to provide both back-up for a department as well as to supplement resources needed during certain times of the year.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



  • Assist in development and implementation of training programs for PantherDining including ServSafe, knife skills, and safety and sanitation.

  • Develops financial reports and coordinates with administration on cost saving approaches.

  • Actively participates in the recruitment process by managing, planning, scheduling, and training of all assigned personnel.

  • Assists in the selection and development of menus in accordance with consumer tastes, nutritional needs, ease of preparation, and established procedures.

  • Oversees staff and supervisory staff, such as the full-time and part-time staff and student workers.

  • Stays up-to-date with market trends, customer preferences, and nutritional considerations.

  • Ensures compliance with University, BOR, local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Coordinates the operation of a 7 day / 24 hour facility.

  • Works a flexible schedule to ensure that the needs of all shifts are met.

  • Directs and trains the entire management team (including Dining Hall Managers, Chefs, Sous Chefs, and Supervisors) during the summer semester at the open unit.

  • Works with Directors to develop and streamline processes and procedures for the department.

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Food Services Management, Dietetics, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or related field and four years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and experience. Must be ServSafe certified.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Preferred background in the operations of institutional food service establishments on a college campus. Extensive knowledge of large-scale food production, including campus meal plans, baking and catering, cafeteria and kitchen design, large food service equipment, nutrition, assessment of food quality and dining trends.

  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary standards.

  • Knowledge of large scale food production.

  • Knowledge of codes, rules and regulations of Hazard Analysis & Critical Control. Point, Occupational Safety and Health Administrative and other food regulations.

  • Excellent written and oral skills.

  • Ability to provide independent supervision.

  • Ability to plan, prepare, maintain,and monitor departmental budgets.

  • Ability to manage confidential information.

  • Physical Requirements: Extended standing, walking, ability to bend, stoop, reach and climb ladders.

  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.

  • Ability to work in all temperature conditions.

  • Flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends.

  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office.
