The primary objective of State Farm Investments is to manage and invest in assets that align with, and support, the insurance operations of the organization. The Real Estate Investments Team, based in the Dallas metro, manages over $17 billion of investments on behalf of State Farm's general account (Auto, Life, and Assurance Company). This position is primarily responsible and serves as a consultant for evaluating insurance related risks and adequacy of coverage for investments in State Farm's commercial mortgage loan and real estate equity portfolios.



Responsibilities

As an experienced Commercial Risk Management Analyst, you will develop working relationships with our internal investment and legal teams, as well as external commercial real estate servicing professionals, thereby leveraging your insurance expertise as a vital component to State Farm's investment strategy. Your judgment and analytical skills will contribute to our overall commercial real estate risk management efforts. This is a senior analyst role commensurate with an internal State Farm job grade of P7 and above.

As an astute and solutions-minded individual, responsibilities of this Insurance and Risk Management Analyst may include:

  • Serve as the subject matter resource to the commercial real estate investment teams for all insurance related matters.
  • Identify and evaluate the insurance related risks associated with each new investment during the underwriting process.
  • Review insurance certificates, policies and binders to ensure alignment with internal insurance requirements for new investments and upon renewal.
  • Collaborate with the investment professionals and attorneys to negotiate insurance-related contract provisions.
  • Coordinate claims handling with external loan servicing professionals, attorneys, and investment professionals.
  • Maintain insurance data within our commercial mortgage software system and monitor for data integrity and compliance.
  • Partner with technology professionals on insurance-related software needs and enhancements.


Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor's degree with concentration in risk management, insurance, business, real estate, or related field as well as CPCU or other insurance education.
  • 5-7 years of experience in commercial lines property/casualty underwriting or related experience.
  • Commercial insurance/risk management related experience, including a thorough understanding of property/casualty insurance policy forms and endorsements along with the ability to evaluate and approve insurance certificates, policies and binders and insurance claim documentation.
  • Ability to effectively research, analyze, and provide counsel on insurance risk-related matters.
  • Self-motivated and detail-orientated with strong critical thinking skills and seasoned judgment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent influencing, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Solid negotiation skills with the ability to see "the big picture" and provide flexibility when appropriate.
