Job Summary

The Space Information Analyst at UCSF is a member of the Space Analytics team, dedicated to ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and utility of spatial data across campus buildings, floors, and rooms. This role involves conducting detailed site surveys to validate and update spatial data, working in close collaboration with departmental space coordinators to ensure data reflects current space usage and configurations. Beyond data collection, the Analyst supports the user community of UCSF's space management platform, offering training and troubleshooting to enhance user experience and data accuracy.

In addition to these operational tasks, the Analyst engages in data analysis, generating insightful reports for both UCSF and the UC Office of the President to aid in strategic decision-making and compliance. This position requires a blend of technical proficiency in data management and spatial analysis, strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments, and the ability to manage projects that aim to optimize space utilization and management on campus. Through a combination of technology utilization, analytical reporting, and stakeholder engagement, the Space Information Analyst plays a pivotal role in the efficient and effective management of UCSF's physical resources.

Department Description

The organization of UCSF Real Estate is focused on the development, planning, delivery, and management ofphysical space for UCSF. Key responsibilities include a unified approach to oversee the active UCSF growth planned on a multi-site campus and to manage the complex metropolitan environments affecting capitalassets andprojects and efforts to align municipal challenges with maximum effectiveness in support of the UCSF mission.

UCSF Real Estate is an integrated unit that enables the alignment of development, planning, design, construction, and management of facilities and a lease portfolio of 1M square feet across UCSF. Services are provided through the following departments: Building Permit Services, Campus Design and Construction, Campus Planning, Construction Contract Administration, Health Design and Construction, Health Major Capital Projects, Real Estate Services, Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland Capital Program Management and support through Business Intelligence, and Finance, Administration and Operations.

Business Intelligence provides integrated technological products, data analytics and services in support of the UCSF Real Estate mission including Space Analytics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) and document management.

The combined UCSF Campus and Health organizations include approximately 198 UCSF and 38 contract personnel; operating/recharge budgets of more than $52.2M per year; current year capital project expenditures of $900M; and oversight and responsibility for > $13.3B long-range capital development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • 2+ years of relevant progressive experience.
  • Knowledge of Data Management Systems, Practices, and Standards: Essential understanding of how to organize, store, and maintain data integrity and how these principles apply to space management.
  • Problem-Solving Skills, Service Orientation, and the Ability to Meet Deadlines: Must be adept at addressing challenges, committed to providing excellent user support, and capable of adhering to project timelines.
  • Data Literacy Skills: Proficient in understanding and using data effectively for analysis and decision-making.
  • Ability to Prepare Simple Data Models Under Guidance of More Senior Professionals: The candidate should be able to contribute to the development of data models that support the organization's space management needs.
  • Ability to Translate Visual Observations into Data and Drawings: A crucial skill for ensuring that site survey data is accurately represented in the space management system.
  • Demonstrated Ability to Work with Others from Diverse Backgrounds and Effective Communication Skills: The candidate must be able to engage effectively with team members, stakeholders, and system users across the organization, including conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Self-Motivation and the Ability to Work Independently and as Part of a Team: Looking for a candidate who is driven, can manage their workload independently, and contributes positively to team efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Utilizing Technology for Field Data Collection: skilled in using tablets, data collection software, audio/visual equipment, and LiDAR technology to accurately capture and document space and building data.
  • Basic AutoCAD proficiency
