Utah Transit Authoritys Innovative Mobility Solution (IMS) Department is focused on identifying and capitalizing on innovative opportunities in the transportation industry. As an IMS intern, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team, contributing to the advancement of cutting-edge transportation initiatives. Responsibilities will encompass:
  • Research: Gather insights, trends, and best practices in the field of transportation and mobility. Collaborate with team members to analyze data and distill meaningful findings.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and organize data from various sources to support decision-making and strategy development. Utilize analytical tools to draw valuable conclusions and to contribute to data-driven solutions.
  • Document Creation: Create well-structured and visually engaging documents that effectively communicate project plans, research outcomes, and strategic recommendations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals to contribute to the development and execution of innovative mobility projects.
This position is a part-time internship, not to exceed 29 hours per week, and is expected to last 6-12 months. This is an in-person position that cannot be conducted remotely. If you do not live in the Salt Lake City or surrounding area, this position would require you to relocate for the full duration of the internship.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Training:
  • Junior-level college student or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, majoring in urban/transportation planning, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
  • Transcripts and two letters of recommendation will be required prior to any offer of employment.
Knowledge/Skills:
  • Basic understanding of at least one of the following areas: Transportation system planning, Transit operations and route planning, the relationship between land use, urban design, and transit, Zoning and land-use regulations, Quantitative/statistical analysis, and business writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office at the intermediate level (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
  • Reliable and self-directing with strong organizational skills.
