Position Summary: The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. Uses applicable EH&S concepts to implement a single-function program or multispecialty program applicable to a variety of organization infrastructures and departments. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgement and for following the defined policies and procedures. Decision-making takes into account established procedures, relevant laws, regulations and organization policy, communication / outreach, and impact on other EH&S programs, fire safety, radiation safety, and emergency services, and uses basic concepts / equipment. Assists higher level EH&S Specialists. Performs tasks from detailed instructions and established procedures on typically non-complex assignments in support of professional program(s). Work is regularly reviewed for understanding of professional concepts and following defined policies and procedures. Conducts fire safety prevention activities including monthly, quarterly, and annual testing of all fire safety systems. This includes auditing, record keeping, fire safety and general safety building inspections and following repairs through to completion. Conducts field inspections on existing and modified buildings. Follows up and escalates inspection findings within defined programs with appropriate contacts (i.e. FM, BFMI, EHS SME's etc.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $26.92 - $36.64 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $26.92 - $46.36 (Hourly Rate).

Required:
  • Two Years' Experience conducting fire inspections in multiple building occupancy types
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Organizational skills to plan, organize, and prioritize work
  • Written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively Skill in following basic instructions and providing input and feedback as required.
  • Basic skills to appropriately use technology and relevant scientific equipment as required. Follow up and corrective action skills
  • Knowledge and skill in the application and interpretation of applicable state and federal laws and regulations including the Health and Safety Code, CCR Title 19 and 24, Uniform Building Code, Uniform Fire Code and NFPA standards Strong report writing, Metrics , Format for publication Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred: Basic knowledge / understanding of relevant EH&S field(s), and related regulations.
Special Conditions Required: * Valid California driver's license required for daily operation of departmental cars/light trucks. Must participate in DMV Pull Notice Program. * Work outside normal business hours on occasion in support of construction activities, testing schedules, special events (Concerts, sporting events, lectures), etc. * Responds to emergencies at any time as required by the University Police, Campus Departments or the EH&S-ERT and takes appropriate action. * Must pass fire prevention coursework & certifications as prescribed. * Must comply with UC vaccine policy * Respond to periodic assignments and emergency callbacks outside of normal working hours * Function as support in emergency situations which may involve exposure to fire and/ or natural disaster scenes
