*GENERAL SUMMARY*

Under direction of the Office Manager, directs plans and coordinates the work of ancillary/support staff. Promotes and restores patients’ health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area; directing and developing staff; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff; providing physical and psychological support for patients, friends and families.

*PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*

1. Assists practice administrator and/or office manager to develop and implement short and long-term work plans and objectives for medical assistants and clerical staff.

2. Assists supervisor in understanding/implementing organizational policies and procedures.

3. Develops guidelines for prioritizing work activities, evaluating effectiveness and modifying activities as necessary.

4. Helps office manager establish deadlines for work assignment and completion. Monitors work
status and progress.

5. Identifies, analyzes and resolves work problems.

6. Ensures that patients are treated courteously by office staff and that other visitors are
screened and properly directed.

7. Ensures that requests for information are handled promptly and effectively.

8. Participates in professional development activities.

9. Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and
treatments in accordance with nursing standards.

10. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients.

11. Observes, records and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. Dispenses medication as directed.

12. Oversees appointment bookings and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency
situations. Maintains timely flow of patients.

13. Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Screens patients for
appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.

14. Coordinates for patient testing and admissions.

15. Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.

16. Maintains and reviews patients' records, charts and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results.

17. Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. prepares list of medical supplies needed.

18. Screens and refers pharmaceutical representatives.

19. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.

20. Maintains patient confidentiality.

21. Performs related work as required.

23. Delegate work duties to staff.

*EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED*
* Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care.
* Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
* Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
* Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
* Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.
* Skill identifying problems and recommending solutions.
* Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports and responding to correspondence.
* Skill in developing and maintain department quality assurance.
* Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
* Ability to maintain quality control standards.
* Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
* Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
* Ability to communicate clearly.

*EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED*

· LPN required.

· Current NJ LPN Licensure. Current BLS certification.

*Additional Requirements:*
* Must have experience working with an Endocrinology provider
* Bilingual Spanish/Korean a plus
