We are currently seeking an Educator and Development Specialist - Aquatics This is a work from home position and is open to qualified candidates within the United States.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW


American Red Cross Educator and Development Specialist primary responsibility is to serve as coach, role model and Subject Matter Expert in all programs including Lifeguarding and Water Safety plus others (Caregiving, EMR, Babysitter's Training, Responding to Emergencies, BBP, Skills Boosts, and Aquatics etc.) for the Service Delivery Team. The Training Services Educator and Development Specialist supports the delivery of Red Cross programs delivered to program standards by providing support to the Service Delivery Observation program where they will recommend professional development and growth opportunities, support instructors by conducting development activities, and facilitate instructor development trainings. This role will act as lead in the Observe the Observer program, support expanding virtual training programs, and instruct American Red Cross program trainings in the assigned specialty area for the American Red Cross. The Educator and Development Specialist is responsible for providing high quality (in person and virtual) instruction, providing feedback, reviewing necessary reports in a timely manner, and properly maintaining equipment in their possession or under their delegated responsibility.

This position is responsible for demonstrating high quality exemplary training instruction, a leader in setting communication/coaching expectations and setting standards for performance evaluation to course attendees, providing necessary reports and administrative duties under their delegated responsibility.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

Instruction: Develops, handles administrative duties, and leads high level programs (including but not limited to) training and development sessions as designed in the assigned specialty area for the American Red Cross only when approved and directed by Training Services. Responsible for efficient and effective academy preparation, delivery, and post activities. Serves as primary Instructor Trainer Educator Specialist for Lifeguarding and WSI. May teach academy courses in specialty area.

* Communications: Engages in regular communications with Service Delivery Resource Management Team and Training Operations regarding observation program support, program roll outs, virtual training, and growth and development activities. Invites input and shares ownership, ensures accountability, and visibility. Is confident under pressure, resilient, handles and manages conflict and emergency situations effectively, facilitates decision making, change management, reconciles, and solves discrepancies, makes recommendations, and implements related actions. Maintains a positive attitude despite adversity, bounces back from setbacks.


* Coordinate annual trainings in cooperation with SD Program Relations and Development Manager. Program analysis. Support product and technology related questions from educator team.

* Personnel Management: Serve as a role model and coach for other instructors, acting as an ambassador for excellence in training. Provides growth and development feedback to Instructor personnel for the provision of quality Training Services training. Conducts staff development training as determined by SD Leadership and approved by Product Development. Serves as coaching resource for the Service Delivery Resource Management Team. Conducts growth and development debrief with Instructor and Resource Manager/Supervisor, providing constructive feedback.

* Service Delivery Observation Program and Compliance: Provides observation program maintenance support. Works closely with Resource Manager, and other assigned leadership to support instructor development and growth that supports quality program delivery. Assist with Service Delivery observation program activities (in-person, online and/or virtual activity). Provides observation trainings of all Instructor Trainers and Virtual Instructors. Provides feedback to Virtual Training Instructors and their Resource Managers/Supervisors. Performs internal and partner instructor observations compliance as requested by SD leadership. Primary Educator and Development Specialist that will provide constructive feedback and support to improve program quality with Observe the Observer Program. Responsible for implementing and ensuring course delivery meets all program standards and requirements and that ARC protocols and policies are followed.

* Program Implementation and Training Strategy: Assist in instructor and instructor trainer engagement activities and/or available such as serving on focus groups, performing product/process testing, implementation, as directed, instructor program training, virtual training development, special projects or providing general feedback as assigned by Service Delivery Leadership. This may involve in-person, online and/or "remote" activity. Develop content in cooperation with the Service Delivery Program Implementation & Training Strategy Manager on project, program role outs, and product needs. Coach for Service Delivery Resource Management Team and Virtual Training Instructors. Provides resource manager support through training and instruction to Service Delivery Instructors. Provides support and mentoring for new staff enrolled and planning to attend an academy. Recommends and facilitates growth and development activities not limited to skills polish and report writing.


* Performs other related duties as assigned.

*Standard Schedule: Typically, Monday- Friday Standard business hours.

The salary range for this position is $61,056. -$81,408. Note that the American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location in which the work is performed. The stated salary range in this posting is an average. The specific salary information will be shared at the time of phone screening based upon your location and qualifications.

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: bachelor's degree in education, Human Resources/ Training, Recreation Management, or similar discipline preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience in a quality assurance, logistics, or training position. American Red Cross Training Services experience preferred.
  • Current certification as an Instructor Trainer (Workplace Safety and/or LGI and/or WSI) in good standing with a preferred 2 years minimum of experience for this level.
  • Recent (within one year) teaching experience in instructor-level courses and recent (within three years) basic-level classes of the specialty area. Experience with a variety of course sizes and delivery types preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate, evaluate and remediate specialty area skills to the Red Cross standard.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter, including Red Cross materials and program policies as it relates to the specialty area.
  • Ability to perform all administrative work required by specialty area including use of blended learning, experience with online courses, scheduling management systems, and learning management systems, etc.
  • Have experience with technology - ability to communicate/operate via email and virtual training platforms, use web and application based systems, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Have excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication/engagement skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage several projects from start to finish.Ability to transition to alternative tasks as needed when not teaching academies.
  • Ability to problem solve in difficult situations and with a variety of customers.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25% to teach academies.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching, development, coaching and mentoring (including specialty area and/or specialty area-specific industry work experience).
    • Work experience in the industry of the specialty area, i.e. Recreation, Public Health, EMT, etc. preferred.
