We Are NCOA and we believe every person deserves to age well. That’s why we’re on a path to improve the lives of 40 million older adults by 2030. NCOA, a national voice for every American’s right to age well, has an exciting opportunity for a Manager of Annual Giving in its Arlington, VA office.

The Manager of Annual Giving works with the Senior Director of Philanthropy to strengthen NCOA’s individual giving program to advance NCOA’s mission and grow unrestricted revenue. The Manager of Annual Giving is responsible for the development and management of annual giving strategies and campaigns for individuals including seasonal and monthly campaigns, social and paid media, email marketing, donor acquisition, and donor retention and advancement of multi-year commitments. Essential to this role is the development of donor stewardship initiatives including but not limited to a sustaining monthly giving program and bringing to the table new ideas for donor prospecting and marketing.

Positions at this level typically report to a senior director and require advanced knowledge and experience as well as management capabilities. Incumbents are required to make independent judgements within their scope of work and require minimal oversight. Incumbents generally have eight or more years of experience in their discipline and a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, as well as substantive experience at this level. Graduate level degrees may be considered in lieu of experience.

To apply, please submit a resume, along with a cover letter, and two recent writing samples. The cover letter should introduce and describe the impact of the two recent writing samples: one for current donors and one for prospective donors.

  • In collaboration with the Senior Director of Philanthropy, set the tone and direction of overall individual giving campaigns.
  • Build on lessons learned and industry best practices to design and lead individual giving strategies that achieve aggressive donor engagement, conversion, retention, and revenue goals.
  • Create and lead all individual giving campaigns—strengthening existing year-end and spring initiatives, and developing smaller, monthly efforts—that facilitate 12-months of giving opportunities to donors and prospects.
  • Create and lead strategies and programs that drive cultivation, stewardship, relationship management, and annual gift upgrades.
  • Develop and manage a donor-informed monthly giving program.
  • Synthesize internal and external data to create donor profiles that drive acquisition through direct mail and digital channels.
