Position Summary
The Grady College PR Specialist will work under the supervision of the Director of Communications. Together this team will shape and implement key strategic messages of the Dean and College through a variety of communications vehicles including print and broadcast media, print and electronic publications, social media channels, the College web site, and multimedia and video productions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to creatively tell stories and engage audiences through print, visual, audio, and video presentations.
- Manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities through the day.
- Basic graphic design, videography, audio, and photography skills to create website and social content, ads, and print materials.
- Knowledge of AP style.
- Social media skills: including content creation, scheduling, and analytics.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office software and Adobe Creative Suite software; especially Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere. Experience with WordPress.
- Assist with planning, developing, and writing content for web, digital applications, and print through press releases and feature stories and accompanying visuals on teaching, research, students, and outreach activities of Grady College.
- Contribute to internal communications via digital newsletter, displays, and other communications platforms.
- Participate in UGA central Marketing and Communications meetings, programs, and training as it pertains to contributing content for them to share to the UGA and public audiences.
- Plan and execute research-focused podcast with Grady research faculty on current research initiatives.
- Help produce photo, graphics, social media, and video content in support of the college missions and events.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders including: department heads, directors of alumni, development and diversity, external relations team, center and institute directors, faculty, and staff in enhancing and furthering their public relations and marketing goals.
- Aid in preparation, coordination, and execution of events, lectures and programs.
- Contribute as a contact for media inquiries.
- Facilitate coverage of Grady programs and projects.
- Collaborate with Communications Director in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic communication plans for the College and its related centers and institutes.
- Aid in training and supervision of Yarbrough communications interns.
