Vaxxinova US is seeking an individual to join our team as a Laboratory Associate working in the Central Services department in our Worthington, Minnesota location.

About the role

The Lab Associate, reporting to the Manufacturing Team Leader, is responsible for assisting and supporting the daily functions of the department and complying with safety rules. This role will also assist in the cleaning and upkeep of the lab.

Shift: Monday through Thursday 6:30am to 3:30pm, Sunday up to 4 hours as needed to complete required tasks.

Main responsibilities:

• Ability to follow SOP’s in an efficient and accurate manner
• Assist with preparation of microbiological media
• Wash glassware, plastic ware, racks, and other laboratory items
• Re-stock supplies and notify supervisor when items need to be ordered
• Sterilize plastic ware/glassware
• Autoclave biohazard materials
• Perform cleaning of lab areas; wipe down countertops, shelving, dump garbage, sweep and mop floors
• Promote safety in all areas of work, professional courtesy, and a positive work environment within the company

Qualifications and Capabilities

• Familiar with laboratory equipment, microbiology techniques, and language of a microbiology lab
• Basic math skills required
• Communication skills to effectively work with teams and across departments
• Good verbal and written skills required
• Strong time management skills
• Ability to follow department SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedure)
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow verbal & written instructions in English
• Ability to accurately record results, follow procedures, and adhere to good laboratory practices.
• Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time; bending, twisting, and preforming fine motor manipulations required
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally
• Ability to pass medical clearance/fit testing
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years laboratory experience preferred.
