The Ideal Candidate

The Manager of QA Services oversees Genesco's QA resources and provides support for Quality Assurance testing and processes across Genesco Information Services projects, catering to all Genesco business divisions. The primary duty entails ensuring that software development projects meet established requirements, and that the implementation of software applications is successful. This is achieved through the utilization of established testing tools, guidelines, and conventions.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Allocate project tasks to team members.
  • Definition of Test Approach.
  • Primary escalation point for QA Engineers and Senior QA Engineers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to QA Engineers and Senior QA Engineers.
  • Additionally, oversee collaborative testing initiatives, including end-to-end (E2E) testing and cross-platform projects.
  • Ensure test cases are robust and automation ready.
  • Deliver QA metrics to QA leadership.
  • Contribute insights and recommendations for Proof of Concepts (POCs) and proposed initiatives related to projects or applications.
  • Conduct interviews with prospective QA Engineer candidates.
  • Assume overall responsibility for the success of the team and project you are leading.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to QA Best Practices within the team.
  • Act as a point of contact for QA engineers, addressing their questions and concerns.
  • Collaborate with Product and Development teams to strategically plan Release work, considering QA availability and resource allocation.
  • Maintain the defect tracking system.
  • Participate in planning and operations meetings.
  • Disseminate business requirements into test plans and or test cases.
  • Lead UAT Test Sessions, provide application instructions for users.
  • Work with developers to resolve and debug issues.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement tools to be used in the testing process to maximize efficiency.
  • Evaluate QA team members to determine areas for skill enhancements through training.
  • Manage day to day operations of the QA team.


Experience and Skills You'll Need to Have
  • 4 year Technical degree (greater work experience may be considered in place of degree).
  • 5+ years' experience in software quality assurance in a high tech environment.
  • 4+ years' experience managing a Quality Assurance team (internal and external).
  • Demonstrable experience of QA methodologies (Smoke, Functional, Integration, Regression, Black box, White box, Load testing).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Assist with transfer of knowledge of skills to other team members.
  • Must be well-organized, efficient, and detail-oriented.
  • Able to evaluate and assign work to team members according to skill levels and work loads.
  • Able to prioritize and provide timely resolution to issues and requests.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision.
  • Provides input to project-related decisions.
  • Occasional travel may be required as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working experience with incident tracking systems such as Jira, FogBugz or comparable.
  • Working experience in writing SQL queries.
  • Working experience in an Agile development environment.
  • Demonstrable experience automating testing with tools such as Selenium, Telerik, or comparable.
