What Assembly contributes to Cardinal Health?

Performs a variety of tasks ranging from training and supervising team members, preparing reports addressing quality and assembly issues. Planning and executing production runs. Managing inventory control systems, troubleshoot equipment problems and ensure production process meets company standards and customer expectations. May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications.

Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the supervisor in the smooth operation of the production floor and minimizing scrap generation from processes and promote workplace safety. Provide process information to supervisor, engineering and management so production equipment may be optimized and/or process corrected. Assist with training of personnel to perform various functions within each assigned area. Facilitate work flow and ensure product quality is maintained.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • 5+ years related manufacturing experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and knowledge of M3 preferred.
  • Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds and be able to bend, reach, stoop, lift and stand for entire shift of 8 hours or more required for lifting items
  • Must be able to work overtime with little to no advance notice, including occasional Saturdays
  • Adherence to site safety regulations including wearing required personal protective equipment; accountable to Cardinal Healths EHS as well as QRA policies and procedures.
  • Aptitude to work in a fast-paced distribution environment while meeting hourly established quotas and performance standards

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a positive attitude to present to the direct labor workforce to drive a positive work environment.
  • Provide for shift-to-shift communication in the assigned department to assure problem areas from prior shifts are known and adequately addressed.
  • Responsible for department operations in the absence of shift supervisor, working closely with the Line Captain to meet production standards.
  • Assist the supervisor in assigning departmental tasks, schedule department associates and monitor performance of equipment and personnel. Ensure tracking systems are maintained.
  • Take an active role in assisting the supervisor who is responsible for the quality and quantity of finished product completed on production equipment and ensure that quality problems are addressed and communicated so that corrective action is initiated.
  • Report machine defects to supervisor during the manufacturing operation, perform failure investigations and take corrective action as necessary to reduce or eliminate the cause of defects. Manage any product requiring rework.
  • Ensure that production personnel complete all pertinent paperwork pertaining to the finished product being produced to established guidelines in the manufacturing procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date and follow all Process Procedures (PS) and Formula Sheets (FS) related to this job, which can affect the quality of products or services provided to the customer.
  • Monitor machinery and process goals during shift and make adjustments as necessary to ensure optimum performance of processes.
  • Provide instruction and training for new and existing manufacturing associates (one-on-one, small groups and classroom). Schedule training sessions and present monthly safety training, and record training completions or participation in the training system.
  • Organize, develop, or obtain, training procedure manuals and guides, and course materials such as handouts and visual materials.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record training activities, materials and program effectiveness.
  • Assist the Supervisor in the planning, development and training of individual as necessary to maintain the integrity, efficiency and high-level expertise in the daily operation of the production floor.
  • Supports continuous improvement through management of the 5S system and facilitation of team improvement activities such as process improvement, equipment layout and personnel utilization.

  • Provides guidance to less experienced team members
  • May have team leader responsibilities but does not formally supervise

Anticipated hourly range: $24.10 per hour - $30.96 per hour
