Major/Essential Functions

Manage retail sales and marketing within the Department of Animal and Food Sciences' Raider Red Meats. Plan, organize, and develop goals and procedures for the unit. Provide direction and guidance in setting and achieving goals and objectives related to large retail and online meat customers. Includes developing policies; reviewing guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations; establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tools for determining progress in meeting goals, while coordinating and evaluating program activities. The position will provide technical sales support for existing retail customers, as well as management of ecommerce sales currently in place. The position will represent the unit to administrators, outside agencies, and retail customers on relevant matters related to the position. May plan, assign, and supervise the work of student workers.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.

Occasional Duties

  • Manage customer relations and provide customer service to RRM Retail and eCommerce customers.
  • Develop and implement management strategies for product set-up and distribution.
  • Serve as point of contact for retailers and ecommerce customers.
  • Forecast needs for retail and online sales, including product, packaging, labels, and consumables.
  • Assist the Program Manager in managing and marketing the Raider Red Meats brand.
  • Manage team of student workers to receive, complete, package, and ship eCommerce (website) point of sale.
  • Assist other Raider Red Meats and G.W. Davis Meat Laboratory staff with operations, as needed.
  • Foster experiential learning of students through employment to aid in their development, while ensuring customers and clients are served.
  • Support the mission of Raider Red Meats with demonstrated excellence and commitment to teaching, quality products, and service.
  • Support the teaching, research, and service mission of the Davis College and the Department of Animal & Food Sciences.
