Position Summary

The Maintenance III is responsible for managing and facilitating teams in the field, to ensure projects are completed on schedule and on budget, while meeting GTI standards for quality and safety. The goal is to maintain the Greenhouse, Warehouses and Other Structures in the best possible condition always – including all systems serving these areas.

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Build and frame buildings/structures by using raw materials or pre-constructed items. Form & Place Concrete. Build scaffolding and other construction structures.
  • Perform duties with all kinds of hand and power tools, including framing squares, levels, power saws and drills, nail guns, compressors, common hand and power tools as well as precision electrical and electronic testing devices, and generators.
  • Must be able to install electrical components like, light switches, receptacles, light fixtures, string lights, run conduits, and raceways.
  • Installing foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials. Constructs forms for and pours and finishes concrete walls, sidewalks, curbs, slabs, and other structures.
  • Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue. Trenching and subsurface pipe installation, backfill, & compaction. Install or repair sanitary or stormwater sewer structures or pipe systems.
  • Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards. Move materials and equipment around site as needed. Load or unload construction materials
  • Must be experienced in all phases of boiler mechanical functions (i.e., troubleshooting, maintenance, repair) know how to perform Blow Down procedure on boilers. Management of building systems including heating/cooling, irrigation/fertigation and electrical. Ensure operational efficiency of electrical equipment and mechanical systems through timely inspection and repair.
  • General plumbing, welding & fabrication, electrical, and carpentry skills.
  • Use Understanding of all necessary PPE and safety requirements.
  • Assess, diagnose, and evaluate problems of a mechanical, electrical, and/or structural nature. Repair, replace, remove, and/or modify greenhouse structures and equipment to correct problems of a mechanical, electrical, and/or structural nature.
  • Repair or replace greenhouse, equipment, and controls; installing heating & irrigation valves, installing water pumps or other small motors. Must be able to install electrical components like disconnects, load centers, light switches, receptacles, run conduits, and raceways.
  • Repair and replace wooden members within and around greenhouses. Some plumbing duties include but not limited to running pipe in trenches, measure, cut, thread, glue, or weld pipe. Weld Steam pipe and structures
  • Pro-Actively create daily/weekly maintenance list to include all areas of the operating site. Report weekly on progress of maintenance list to Supervisor with completion dates, materials used, and hours assigned.
  • Perform maintenance inspections and repairs on greenhouses, benching and surrounding areas to ensure proper operating conditions and appearance. Read and interpret schematics/equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Keeping documents of inspections and problems.
  • Maintain all maintenance shops and storage rooms in an orderly fashion and in compliance with safety regulations. Maintain accurate inventory control of tools, equipment, and supplies. Ensure exterior curb appeal of the community and cleanliness of grounds.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with environmental, food safety, safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Experience)

  • Must have 10 years in general construction field. Must have minimum 10 years in greenhouse maintenance field.
  • CMMS experience necessary
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Must be willing to work long hours and weekends and be on call during peak seasons and some holidays
  • Safety/OSHA knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical, electrical, and industrial fabrication. Must be able to perform all duties/skills required of Maintenance Worker I and II.
  • Have extensive experience with mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and execute multiple tasks, in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to install, diagnose, repair, wire and maintain a variety of production and building equipment. Intermediate welding experience in stick and wire feed welders.
  • Able to use measuring tools like rulers, tapes, squares, power tools etc.
  • Must be able to read and write
  • Must know how to drive a tractor, forklift, aerial equipment, and trucks.
  • Capable of performing routine math calculations, including percentages and fractions.
  • Must be detail oriented and thorough in their work. Ability to quickly address critical and urgent situations in a timely and consistent manner
  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed, and team oriented. Good active listening and written and verbal communication skills. Be able to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
  • Always maintain a professional attitude
  • Excellent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills to minimize equipment downtime
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and execute multiple tasks, in a fast-paced environment
  • Keep accurate work records and turn in paperwork daily or as required. Maintain detailed records of all repairs, as well as parts invoices that were required for the repairs.
  • Able to drive a tractor, forklift, aerial equipment, and trucks.

Physical Requirements

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk or hear; and prolonged to standing, walking, use of hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities by this job include close distance and color vision. 2. Able to work both inside and outside with hot and cold environments. Possible exposure to dust and pollen.



Compensation details: 22-25 Hourly Wage
