*Sr. Hardware Engineer (12 month contract // Mounds View, MN):*

Top 3 Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field
* Proven experience in PCB design schematic capture and layout using industry-standard design tools (Cadence OrCAD/Allegro)
* Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit design principles, and PCB manufacturing processes



Target Years of Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience



Primary Activities:
* Create schematic diagrams and layout designs for PCBs using industry-standard design tools such as Cadence Allegro. As a PCB Designer, you will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of electronic systems by designing, testing, and optimizing printed circuit boards for various applications
* Work with internal cross functional engineering teams to architect and design a wide range of both PCB and Custom Fixturing/Test Vehicles and Equipment projects to support development and testing of cutting-edge medical devices
* Create comprehensive documentation including PCB design files, bill of materials (BOM), assembly drawings, and manufacturing instructions to support the production and assembly of PCBs



Duties:
* This position will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of electronic systems by designing, testing, and optimizing printed circuit boards for various applications.
* You will collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to ensure that designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements. As member of a small team within a large company, you will have opportunities to contribute to all activities throughout the development phases.
* Work with internal and external cross functional engineering teams to architect and design a wide range of PCB projects to support development and testing of cutting-edge medical devices.
* Collaborate tightly with and directly contribute to associated mechanical design and build tasks within a small design team.
* Create schematic diagrams and layout designs for PCBs using industry-standard design tools such Cadence Allegro.
* Establish strong relationships with vendors to select appropriate electronic components for PCBs based on performance, cost, and availability considerations.
* Help in lab to facilitate the manufacture of high test electronic test equipment, custom fixturing and advanced prototypes.



Must Have Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field
* 5+ years of relevant experience supporting development of electromechanical devices
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve design issues
* Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to PCB design and manufacturing (e.g., IPC standards)
* Proven experience in PCB design schematic capture and layout using industry-standard design tools (Cadence OrCAD/Allegro)
* Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit design principles, and PCB manufacturing processes



Nice to Have Skills:
* Electronics assembly including hand soldering and automated SMT (surface mount technology/pick and place systems)
* Experience with mechanical design using SolidWorks
* Experience with SVN software versioning and revision control system
* Familiarity with OrCAD CIS for schematic/layout library management
* Independent management of small to mid-scale technical projects including scheduling and assigning tasks to supporting staff
* IPC-A-610 and J-Standard soldering certification
* Testing and debugging PCB assemblies

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $70.00 per hour
