Job Description

Company is seeking to hire a Plant Engineer to support the station with planned maintenance activities, troubleshooting of technical issues, overseeing/assisting with Capital and O&M projects and outages, while ensuring safety and environmental compliance in order to optimize station processes and reliability. The Plant Engineer will report directly to the Plant Manager.

Detailed Job Description

·         Provide technical assistance to operations and maintenance departments in support of repairs and/or maintenance of station equipment consistent with the relative and applicable codes and standards.

·         Assist in the planning and execution of scheduled outages, including development and maintaining outage schedules.

·         Serve as Outage Coordinator for all scheduled outages by interacting with the station’s Management, Engineering, Operations and Maintenance teams during these outages.

·         Work with the station managers to evaluate and establish goals and objectives focused on process improvement, and responsible equipment operations.

·         Assist in the development and optimization of an effective PM program to ensure plant equipment is operated and maintained consistent with manufacturer’s specifications.

·         Project management for O&M and capital projects that includes development RFP Packages with design drawings and specification(s) as required, review of bid evaluations for constructability, and provide technical recommendations for award, manage contracts and contractors to facilitate the completion of the projects.

·         Assist in updating and optimizing the station’s design basis documents and database such as drawings, system descriptions, and control narratives, etc.

·         Perform incident investigations and failure root cause analysis as necessary.

·         Perform condition assessment of all plant equipment to support continued viability and maintenance schedule.

·         Assist in performing testing, repairing and preventative maintenance on hydraulic, electrical, and electronic control systems and instrumentation.

·         Establish preliminary project work scope, budget, and schedule with guidance from Managers and Labor Group Supervisors.

experience & Qualification requirements

This ideal candidate will have at least the following:

·         A bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline. (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred).

·         Minimum 5 years’ experience directly involved with capital planning, engineering, design, contracting, project management, construction management, maintenance support, budgeting, and procurement.

·         Strong organization and project management skills.

·         Ability to manage multiple tasks and work through complex issues.

·         Familiarity with main power plant components and systems including boilers, steam turbines, electric generators, transformers, motors, rotating plant equipment (pumps and motors), electrical auxiliaries, cabling systems, protection systems, insulation and cooling systems, high and low voltage transformers, high and low voltage switchgear, transmission interconnection equipment, bus bar installations, grounding arrangements, etc.

·         Familiarity with the typical failure modes of the normal power plant materials, systems and plant component items and methods of non-destructive test used on HEP, boilers, generators, transformers, cables, insulation systems and major plant equipment.

·         Familiarity with the principles of power plant systems, design of mechanical systems and controls, valves, pumps, mechanical components, boilers, steam, and feed water systems, etc.

·         Familiarity with the principles of power plant auxiliary power distribution systems, properties of electrical materials, test procedures and precautions to be taken to ensure safety.

·         Knowledge of industrial instrumentation.

·         Familiarity with the use of electrical and electronic test equipment.

·         Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controls (PLC).

·         Familiarity with industry relevant codes and standards such as ASME, IEEE, and NFPA, etc.

·         Working knowledge of MS Office products including Excel, Word, Access, Project, and PowerPoint.

·         Demonstrated analytical skills.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Effective interpersonal skills.
