The Machine Operator III - Team Leader serves as a role model to all production employees with regard to safety, food safety, quality, productivity, teamwork, and attendance. The Team Leader is responsible for understanding the operation of multiple production lines from the filler through the end of line. The Team Leader will assist the Shift Manager with daily operations as needed, and will run the shift in the Shift Manager's absence; including assigning work and directing the team to ensure the shift/department is meeting priorities. The Team Leader will generate and release orders, input data and analyze reports, and follow up on training of employees to support knowledge transfer and line certifications. The Team Leader will support project initiatives in the department. Successful candidate will be hardworking, motivated, self-starter and ability to manage time well, work independently, but also work as part of a team.

Key responsibilities for this position include:


Line Operator

  • Responsible for all aspects of food safety and quality, as applicable and defined in plant and department procedures.
  • Identifies and resolves problems on the production floor in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information, develops alternative solutions, works well within group problem solving situations, and uses reasoning.
  • Sets and achieves challenging goals. Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles.
  • Actively looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
  • Complete equipment troubleshooting and partner with maintenance as needed to fix issues.
  • Maintain credentials up to date for all systems (Systems include training, payroll, SAP, CIP, etc.)
  • Operate power industrial equipment such as walkie and pallet jack safely and accurately. Serve as a buddy for trainees who are in the buddy system.
  • Support line breaks and/or vacations as needed.
  • Prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
  • Perform Essential Duties from Machine Operator II position including:

Monitor line checks and ensure product is within Stonyfield specification.

Ensure all materials used at the line match Stonyfield standard.

Collaborate with material handling to ensure continuous operation of the line.

Ensure operator control sheets are accurately completed.

Monitor Cleaning In Place (CIP) of the assigned production lines.

Perform all production lines activities based on Stonyfield standards, best manufacturing practices and time requirements.

(Production line activities include start up, changeovers, cip, sanitation, line checks, line adjustments, shutdown, x-ray checks, waterpushes, rebuilds, master sanitation, PM, HMI, production line operation, paperwork completion, etc.)


Trainer

  • Support, coach and motivates MOI & MOII employees with training and other needs.
  • Train diverse groups of operators in both a classroom setting as well as on the job training (OJT) on the manufacturing floor.
  • Assess understanding of trainees, audit, and evaluate performance to standards.
  • Perform Audits to ensure that employees are properly trained and certified on the production lines.

Owner

  • Monitor filler CIP cycle times and coordinate shared resources.
  • Audit shift daily paperwork for accuracy and completeness and follow up on any discrepancies and deficiencies.
  • Perform area walkthrough's looking for deficiencies and escalating appropriately.
  • Create maintenance work requests.
  • Create, update, and otherwise maintain controlled documents and training material so it remains relevant and accurate to current processes.

Team Lead / Shift Manager Coverage

  • Provide coverage for the Shift Manager role as required.
  • Monitor and manage base usage and schedule.
  • Coordinate with support departments as needed and for schedule adjustments.
  • Create and release production orders in SAP.
  • Create Operator Control Sheets (OCS) for released production orders.
  • Close out Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and Dairy Preventative Maintenance (DPM) operator work orders.
  • Fill in where needed and support the daily objectives.

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:
Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience required.
  • Machine Operator II (MOII) required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong expertise in SAP QM, HMI's, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • The requirement to work overtime in this environment is consistent.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a team-oriented organization required.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Ability to give direction in a detailed, comprehensive manner.
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
