This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

We're looking for technically ambitions individuals who can help us improve product quality and reduce cycle time for all of our Engine's programs on our D shift (weekend evenings/nights). As part of a hardworking, accomplished team of rocket engine manufacturing engineers, you will be responsible for developing and improving production manufacturing processes. You will work closely with product owners, design engineering, technicians, and operations teams to share in the team's successful delivery of engines for internal and external customers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Develop new advanced rocket engine manufacturing processes to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule.
  • Conduct DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test.
  • Develop manufacturing work instructions for fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.
  • Closely manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process
  • Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.
  • Develop process control measures and evaluation through statistical analysis.
  • Define and support repair and rework activities.
  • Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.
  • Design tooling and packaging to improve manufacturing consistency and protect hardware through the build and test process.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in engineering from an accredited university (Masters of Science preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience
  • Experience designing tooling to aid manufacture, assembly, and testing
  • Hands on experience with hardware manufacturing processes (i.e. castings, forgings, additively manufactured components, welding, machining, brazing, non-destructive testing methods, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware)
  • Familiarity with common metrology and non-destructive testing techniques
  • Strong organizational and project management skills (Gantt charting, PFMEA)
  • Understanding of statistical process control techniques (e.g. capability analysis, control charting)
  • Proven history of manufacturing process improvements
  • Digital literacy across many software packages (MS Office, MS Project, Minitab/JMP, Atlassian suite, Manufacturing Execution Systems, Creo, Windchill, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems for regulated environments (e.g. AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 13485)
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
  • Desire to work weekend night shift schedule Friday through Sunday 1:00 PM - 11:30 PM
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience working across shifts to ensure smooth handoffs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of common manufacturing materials, GD&T, and tolerance/stack-up analysis
  • Experience taking products from development design to at rate production.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience
