Shipping Specialist

Job Purpose-

Coordinate and manage the shipments of samples to ensure that materials/products are transported in compliance with transportation and import/export regulations/requirements and delivered on time to customers.

Core Responsibilities-
* Manage the shipment of samples, including method of transport, pick-up times, and carriers (mostly FedEx Express) to meet required shipping and delivery dates.* Prepare export shipping documents (in accordance with regulatory requirements) for shipments outside the US.
* Follow all DOT guidelines in shipping both hazardous and also non-hazardous goods to our customers.
* Assist in the implementation of written transportation procedures and required maintenance of files.
* Maintain stock of frequently used ingredients or flavors/intermediates for the remote site, replenishing as stock is depleted or expired.
* Execute other tasks as required and assigned by supervisor.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area
* Flexibility, enthusiastic and positive approach to work performance

Professional experience-
* Previous shipping experience in either a laboratory or manufacturing setting
* 2 to 3 years of experience in logistics

Technical Skills-
* Experience in shipping is definitely preferred but not required.
* Good knowledge of transportation suppliers landscape.
* A working knowledge of local and international material/product safety/security norms and regulations.
* Knowledge of and a comfort level with hazardous material and/or chemical handling.
* A basic knowledge of laboratory or production processes.
* Good computer skills.
* Strong communicaton skills
