Vaxxinova US is seeking a Production Technician to join our Viral team in Willmar, MN.

About the role

As a key member of the viral department, the viral technician is responsible for the growth and processing of cells and virus used to create vaccines. This critical role will be engaged in production, process improvement, and the support functions necessary to ensure vaccine delivery to hundreds of customers throughout North America and the world.

Primary hours between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. There may be flexibility within these hours.

Main responsibilities:

Viral Processing

• Harvesting of primary cells for viral production
• Growth and harvest of viral fluids for further processing
• Disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of viral equipment
• Preparation of liquid media used during viral process
• Maintenance of a clean work environment to assure sterility

Compliance, Process Improvement, and Teamwork

• Maintenance of records associated with viral processes. Records are kept manually.
• Independent work as part of small teams during processes.
• Completion of assigned tasks in a timely manner and maintenance of continuity in workflow.
• Performing routine facility cleaning and keeping work areas in a neat and orderly condition.
• Completing required document training and safety training.
• Assisting with experimental design and technical transfer projects. Communicating project status with appropriate stakeholders across departments.
• Training or cross-training other technicians.
• Reviewing and updating manufacturing documentation.
• Researching new equipment and processes, applying information to job responsibilities.
• Working on cross-departmental teams to implement novel processes.
• Answering technical questions for other members in the department and for other departments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Capabilities:

• Basic math skills
• Basic computer skills
• Hard working individual with a positive attitude and passion for detailed completion of assigned duties.
• Natural abilities and strengths in multi-tasking, problem solving and prioritization.
• Confidence to work and make decisions independently and be self-directed.
• Willing to “roll-up your sleeves” and perform work that requires being on your feet, twisting, turning, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping and some lifting of equipment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to adapt and react positively to changes in daily routine.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds without assistance as well as pushing and pulling mobile carts and process vessels.

Experience and Education:

• One (1) to Two (2) years in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Some mechanical problem-solving experience or aptitude are a huge plus
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two (2) or Four (4) year degree in any technical field preferred.
