As the Senior Service Center Manager, Break Bulk, you will be responsible for a large Less Than Truckload facility that runs 24x7 and is critical to running our network on time by moving freight damage free. What you’ll do on a typical day:
• Leader of leaders responsible for all employees working at the break bulk; recognizing and managing employees’ performance, leading situational and competency awareness, and developing talent.
• Respond promptly to customer inquiries and concerns, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Analyzing performance metrics and identify areas for improvement to enhance overall quality and service levels.
• Owns and achieves P&L goals for the facility, including coaching to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Lead your leadership team to plan the daily and long-term labor needs to ensure freight is transported on time and damage free.
• Provide clear and frequent updates to all employees about break bulk productivity and company policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular team meetings to foster employee engagement and address any concerns.
• Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to improve the operation and drive sustained profitability.
• Establish a safety mindset and culture. Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws/regulations, and all company policies/procedures.
• Hold the team accountable to route proper documentation and oversee procedure control for hazardous material shipments.
• Work creatively with multiple functional areas to execute action plans to increase efficiencies and achieve facility goals.
What you need to succeed at XPO:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
• 5 years of leadership experience in a distribution, supply chain, procurement, maintenance, or transportation service company
• Experience leading a minimum of five direct reports and large teams.
• Experience managing a P&L to achieve financial objectives.
• Experience in engaging customers and developing an account base.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry, DOT regulations, OSHA standards, hazardous materials regulations, NMFC and Tariff rules
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including performing and directing moderately complex analyses in spreadsheet and database programs such as Excel and Access
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive without time-of-day restrictions.
- Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays; travel as needed.
It’d be great if you also have:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent related work or military experience.
• 7 or more years of leadership experience in a distribution, supply chain, procurement, maintenance, or transportation service company
• Forklift experience.
• The capability to effectively manage vendor and customer relationships at all levels.
• Thinks critically; anticipates long-term challenges and trends; understands implications of decisions; translates ideas and concepts into practical applications.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to action plan and make data-based decisions.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication, group presentation, and administrative skills.
This job requires the ability to:
• Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel.
• Work in both an office and dock environment in various weather conditions which may include extreme heat or cold; work conditions may include walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time.
