Job Title: Assistant Operator / Extrusion Technician Night Shift


Schedule: 5:45PM - 6:00AM Rotating 2-2-3 Schedule


Location: Grand Rapids, MI


Job Description


The Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the production team by providing administrative assistance, maintaining a clean work environment, and assisting with various production tasks. This role involves handling finished products, conducting basic quality testing, and providing assistance to operators and technicians as needed, including tasks such as cutting out air and setting up treatments. Additionally, the Assistant ensures that all tasks on the end-of-shift paperwork are completed for each line before the end of the shift. They also understand and follow all BRC, GMP, and PPE policies and ensure a safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures.



Responsibilities



  • Understand and follow safety procedures while maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Adhere to all BRC, GMP, and PPE policies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and protocols.

  • Sweep and organize the work area to ensure a clean and safe working environment.

  • Dispose of waste materials properly and maintain cleanliness standards throughout the shift.

  • Perform basic quality tests on products using specified equipment and procedures.

  • Record test results accurately and report any deviations from quality standards to the appropriate personnel.

  • Assist with quality control inspections and audits as directed by supervisors.

  • Must be able to read and understand the work order packet to ensure accurate execution of production tasks.

  • Verify that all equipment settings and parameters align with setup guides and customer specifications.

  • Perform roll changes on the winder according to production needs.

  • Take samples and retains of finished products for quality control purposes.

  • Cut cores and prep packaging supplies as necessary for finished products.

  • Prepare labels and follow packaging instructions for finished products.

  • Ensure proper handling and storage of finished products to prevent damage or contamination.

  • Monitor material shortage alarms on the machine and respond promptly to prevent production delays.

  • Assist the operator with maintaining resin levels on the line to ensure continuous operation.

  • Manage resin supplies for the production line, ensuring an adequate supply is available to support continuous operation.

  • Support technicians with bubble start procedures at the beginning of production runs, including assisting with screen changes and die lip cleanings as necessary.

  • Aid in shutdown procedures and cleaning tasks at the end of production runs.

  • Assist with cutting out air and setting up treatments as required to ensure a smooth transition into production on the line.

Education and Experience

  • Overtime expected per business demand.


Physical Requirements



  • Adhere to physical requirements, including being able to lift 55lbs above your waist, move up and down several sets of stairs to perform certain tasks, and be on your feet for 12 hours.
