Function:
MaintenanceJob Summary:The Plant Inspector is responsible for administering, coordinating, and performing the fixed equipment inspections at the CF Industries Yazoo City Complex under the guidance of the plant's Principal Mechanical Engineer. The Plant Inspector will work across the Engineering, Maintenance and Operation Departments to ensure fixed equipment Mechanical Integrity(MI) inspections, fabrication/testing activities, and quality assurance activities will meet plant requirements. This work includes, but may not be limited to, performing internal and external inspections of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, storage tanks, valves, pressure relieving devices, boilers, fired heaters, etc. The successful candidate will require a working knowledge of applicable inspection codes/standards and their requirements as they relate to fixed equipment.Job Description:Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of inspection plans and perform equipment mechanical integrity inspections as scheduled in the Mechanical Integrity program.
Facilitate inspections performed by contract NDE technicians and API inspectors during plant outages.
Perform scheduled and/or opportunity equipment inspections as requested by operations, maintenance and engineering personnel per individual task, project, or turnaround schedule.
Work closely with contractor QC personnel to ensure contractor inspection test plans (ITP) and welding procedures are performed per company and code requirements.
Perform new equipment fabrication inspections and existing equipment repair inspections as requested by engineering or maintenance project managers.
Be able to perform confined space entry internal inspections of plant equipment during outages and scheduled shutdowns.
Develop corrective action and repair recommendations for fixed equipment based on equipment deficiencies and code requirements along with following the work to assure repairs are completed as per repair plans.
Review inspection findings and repair recommendations with Management, Operations, and Maintenance.
Prepare inspection reports in a timely manner which clearly explain equipment condition, recommendations, and corrective actions if needed.
Maintain personal inspection certifications as outlined in the mechanical integrity program.
Validate contract inspector certifications and qualifications.
Participate in root cause investigations of equipment failures.
Maintain NDT equipment calibrations and certifications.
Must be available to work during off hours or weekends when unexpected plant upsets occur and work overtime during plant outages.
Be available to for occasional travel within North America
Successful candidates will possess:
High School graduate or equivalent minimum education.
One or more of the following API certifications; API 510, API 570, or API 653. CF will support the development in acquiring additional API, AWS, or ASNT certifications.
Demonstrated the ability to work safely and in compliance with site safety, health and environmental standards and practices.
Enough knowledge and practical experience with NDE techniques (PT, MT, UT) that are generally applied in the petrochemical industry to perform the techniques and be qualified/certified to Level II.
Experience in RTFI (Radiographic Testing Film Interpretation) preferred.
Two or more years of inspection and/or mechanical integrity related activity experience in the oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing industry.
Industrial and chemical plant pipefitting/welding experience preferred.
Experience in welding and fabrication processes of pressure vessels, tanks, and piping.
Must have the ability to work in a team environment and to maintain positive working relationships.
Must have the ability to manage many diverse tasks and issues simultaneously through prioritizing and hands-on person effort.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel of all backgrounds.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, etc.)
Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
The ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause.
