Material Handler LaForce DescriptionLaForce is looking for a Material Handler to pull material, prep material for shipment/delivery, and load material on carriers and/or LaForce trucks. These activities will include material handling with lift trucks and manually in the process of pulling and loading/unloading trucks and trailers. This position interacts directly with customers at the pickup dock.
Major Responsibilities
Practice safe work methods for operating forklift and other dock equipment
Pull and load required material for various trucks including frames, doors, hardware, crated glass, and others as directed
Push, pull, lift, and maneuver manufactured frames on warehouse floor and onto trailer
Unload deliveries from various carriers, identify and record damaged material
Store materials throughout the warehouse and record storage location via warehouse scan system
Must be able to lift and maneuver boxes up to 50 lbs
Contribute to a safe, clean work environment
Report any quality concerns, damaged material, or unsafe work conditions to department manager
Qualifications
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
One to three months related experience and/or training
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure using whole numbers
Driver's license preferred
Ability to successfully pass a drug screen, physical, and background check

JOB OVERVIEW
This position operates various pieces of equipment to fabricate materials per customer specifications in conjunction with safety standards, quality requirements, and manufacturing philosophies within a team environment.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set the example for safe manufacturing and material handling practices
Meet and maintain quality and performance expectations including efficiencies and productivity standards
Meet and maintain the required efficiency level with minimal re-work
Responsible for following blue print, sketches, engineering drawings to produce products to customer requirements
Operate Fab Shop machinery and equipment
Provide assistance to other fabricators
Talk to Production Manager and understand expectations of assigned projects
Regularly and consistently demonstrate skill in the areas of welding, grinding & polishing, layout, print reading and verifying
Read and interpret job specifications to determine how they apply to the project
Fit, tack and weld fabrications complete
Measure work piece dimensions to verify accuracy
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Communicate and work well with other departments and team members regarding accurate and timely completion of projects
Identify problems, develop alternative solutions and gather/present information toward implementing alternative actions
Demonstrate initiative and willingness to undertake increased responsibility
Exhibit ability to prioritize and plan work activities, manage time efficiently and meet objectives to complete projects
Demonstrate team work by working well with others, offering assistance, responding positively to constructive feedback

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent (GED); Welding program diploma preferred but not required
1-3 years minimum of welding experience
PREFERRED SKILLS
Fabrication experience that includes knowledge of layout, fabrication and welding
Strong mathematical and analytical skills, along with a keen sense of attention to detail
Excellent blue print reading and interpretation skills
