- Shift: 2nd - 4:00pm - 12:30am (Monday - Friday)
Discover Impactful Work:
As the Machine Operator you will perform operation, varied maintenance and minor repair work to keep the mechanical Filling Units and Packaging Equipment in good working condition. Required to work in a safe manner and under a minimum of supervision.
A day in the Life:
- Operate machines for production and safely operate the machines to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Examine machinery or equipment; figure out and performs cleaning and minor repairs.
- Perform quality checks as instructed and records data in line with production and quality standards.
- Perform changeovers of the packaging lines, often in conjunction with the machine mechanic, and makes operating adjustments as needed throughout the packaging line runs
- Responsible for working safely and for producing quality products.
Keys to Success:
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience
- 2 or more years' experience working in manufacturing environment and/or chemical packaging environment preferred.
- Previous experience in a chemical environment is preferred
- Forklift operator experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of the purpose, operation, and assembly of the machinery and equipment and mechanical ability preferred.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Candidates who are committed to working in a safe and efficient manner.
- Willingness to learn various equipment including powered industrial trucks, forklifts, or other equipment.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Ability to manipulate/handle production materials up to 50 kg and lift containers weighing up to 40 kg.
- Ability to stand for the duration for shift requirements.
- Ability to operate machinery intermittently throughout the workday.
- Required to wear safety glasses with side shields, steel toed safety shoes/boots, uniforms (provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific) and any other job specific PPE.
