We are seeking to hire a full-time Research Data Coordinator for the Johns Hopkins University research unit of an international hypertension initiative, Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL), and multi-center cohort studies, the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study and the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latino

(HCHS/SOL) study.

Specific duties & responsibilities

• RTSL is a new initiative aiming to improve blood pressure control and reduce sodium intake in low- and middle-income countries. ARIC is a large NIH-funded cohort of almost 16,000 people followed for over three decades. SOL is a large NIH-funded cohort of almost 16,000 participants in Hispanic/Latino populations in US followed for over a decade.

• Assisting in literature search and summarizing relevant literature.
• Assisting in the interpretation and writing of statistical results or other parts for manuscripts and other reports.
• Active collaboration with RTSL, ARIC, and SOL investigators regarding literature review and data summary and presentations with a particular focus on peripheral artery disease and arterial stiffness.
• Data compilation and basic data analysis.
  
• Project management (tracking the progress of multiple projects, following up task leaders, and drafting progress reports)
• Participation in regular seminars and meetings of Johns Hopkins University research unit.
• The ideal candidate for this position will have outstanding collaborative and organizational skills and a strong interest in epidemiologic and biostatistical research.
• Data management skills are important.
• The ARIC study analytic core is based the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research (), is affiliated with the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Training Program (), and has strong ties to multiple departments and other training programs at Johns Hopkins.

Overview of the ARIC Study

• The ARIC Study has collected data from nearly 16,000 participants at four sites examined multiple times with over 30 years of follow-up.
• The primary research topics are in heart disease, kidney disease, and diabetes, although investigators utilize these data for a broad range of topics.
• The study includes a large number of ancillary grants including genetic research.
• Core investigators of the Johns Hopkins ARIC Study research unit have faculty appointments in the Schools of Public Health and Medicine (~50 investigators and students at Hopkins collaborate with other sites; ARIC publishes ~60 papers a year with ~10-20 per year led by Hopkins investigators).

Overview of RTSL

• RTSL is a new cardiovascular health initiative and aims to prevent 100 million premature deaths globally by,
• Eliminating artificial trans-fat,
• Reducing sodium intake,
• Improving blood pressure control.
• Resolve is based at Vital Strategies, a global health non-profit organization and involves several partners to effectively and efficiently plan, implement, and evaluate the initiative.
• Resolve team at Hopkins is involved in sodium reduction and improvement of blood pressure control and provides technical supports in various aspects such as program design, scope analysis, training materials, and program evaluation.

Overview of SOL Study

• SOL study has collected data from nearly 16,000 participants at four sites examined multiple times in 2008-2011 (Visit 1), 2014-2017 (Visit 2) and 2020-present (Visit 3).
• SOL study assesses the role of acculturation in prevalence and development of disease and identifies factors playing a protective or harmful role in the health of Hispanics/Latinos.
• This study includes some ancillary studies including genetic research.
• SOL team at Hopkins is involved in cardiovascular epidemiological studies including peripheral artery disease, arrhythmia and dementia.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Experience in data management using Stata, SAS, and/or R, is required. Technical qualifications or specialized certifications.
• Experience in data management using Stata, SAS, R, and/or other statistical package is required.

• Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
• One year of related experience required. Master's Degree may substitute for work experience.

• MPH or MS in related field preferred but not required.
• Experience in project management software.
• Experience in epidemiological research of cardiovascular disease.
