Overview:

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

Hourly Pay Rate: $38 - $45/hr.

Full-time: Onsite

Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday; 8am-5pm w/ on call rotation once every 3 weeks

We are looking for an LVN for our San Martin, CA Short-Term Residential clinic!

As a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), you will be responsible to care for medical emergencies and for the general medical support of the students and be supported by an experienced leadership team, Clinical Director, Executive Director, and Administrative Team that are all focused on the mission to facilitate lasting positive change for young people and their families.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Respond to reports of pain or sickness as they arise and assess the student.
Administer medications including injections as needed.
Manage med room and distribute medication per doctor's orders.
Managing MAR and communicating with team on medical concerns.
Submitting doctor's orders to pharmacy and facilitating prescription retrieval.
Communicating with outside providers to obtain medical records.
Monitoring and conducting skin checks for self-harm behavior.
Conducting searches and other related safety checks.
Determine when a student is to be placed on sick bed due to illness or pain.
Accompany students to clinic or hospital should the situation arise; communicate findings to the students' parents and to the Clinical Director.
Check the vital signs and weight of students as assigned.
Monitor students in regard to mood, behavior and affect, and then chart the findings. (Particularly when a student is starting a new medication.)
Communicate any pertinent medical information to the Treatment Team and the Psychiatrist either verbally or in written form.
Co-facilitate psychoeducation group.
Attend weekly treatment team meeting.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of standard medical terminology and technique.
Skilled in Medication management and administration
Knowledge of legal charting procedure and requirements.
Knowledge of company policies and practices.
Experience working with adolescents preferred.
Experience in mental or behavioral health setting preferred.
Skill in using nursing tools and equipment (e.g., needles, thermometers, diagnostic tests, stethoscope, blood pressure cuffs, etc.)
Skill in assessing the physical condition of the students.
Skill in communicating medical situations accurately to students, parents, and co-workers.
Ability to use word processing software and to navigate networks.
Experience or knowledge of health insurance submission processes.
Ability to check vital signs.
Qualifications:

Required

Active CA LVN license 2+ years, driver license, and current CPR certification.
Nursing experience is required, mental or behavioral health setting experience preferred.
