Our Atikokan location in Ontario, Canada is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Warehouse Stores Assistant, Atikokan Sawmill. This job is permanent, full-time.

Warehouse Stores Assistant, Atikokan Sawmill

Resolute Forest Products is seeking candidates for the position of Warehouse Stores Assistant for our Atikokan wood products operation located in Northwest Ontario outside the community of Atikokan, Ontario. In this role, you will join a team of staff, operators and maintenance specialists during the operation of this facility.

Your responsibilities:

  • Compliance: Comply with our health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Warehouse Stores Assistance: Provide Warehouse Stores assistance to the local management team.
  • Health and Safety Program: Ensure diligent application of the health and safety program and compliance with health and safety legislation to minimize industrial accidents and diseases. Control direct and indirect health and safety costs.
  • Materials and Services: Liaise with divisional and operational personnel for researching and selecting materials, services, and costing information.
  • Order Management:
    • Expedite ordered goods, including monitoring, shipping, following up on backorders, and making necessary cancellations or changes.
    • Coordinate freight shipments with transportation companies and suppliers to achieve required on-site deliveries.
  • Continuous Research: Continuously research the availability of new products and services that meet quality standards with cost-effective service levels for the company.
  • Communication: Maintain proactive two-way communications within the department and with other divisions.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor, set up, and stock inventory items as required, including issuing purchase orders to replenish stock.
    • Maintain and update the purchasing department’s computerized database.
  • Invoice Resolution: Resolve and approve invoices with pricing or tax discrepancies as required.
  • Consultation and Special Projects:
    • Consult with immediate supervisor on pertinent matters.
    • Perform special projects and other assigned duties as required.

Ideal profile:

  • Education: Business/Accounting Certificate or Diploma (preferable).
  • Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Safety Focus: Possesses a strong safety focus and an exceptional safety record.
  • Industry Knowledge: Demonstrates a good understanding of sawmill and planer mill equipment, as well as issues within the wood products industry.
  • Leadership: Shows progression in leadership roles.
  • Skills:
    • Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication (verbal & written), organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proven ability to work independently and within a diverse team environment.
    • Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills.
    • Interest: Interested in the industrial environment and resourceful.
  • Judgment and Influence: Exhibits excellent judgment and analytical skills, with the ability to explain and influence.
  • Team Player: Works well as a team player, maintaining a professional demeanor and attentive listening.
  • Relationship Building: Develops and maintains good business relationships with employees.
  • Adaptability: Able to adapt, organize, and implement best business practices.
  • Motivation: Autonomous, motivated, persevering, and oriented toward achieving excellent results.

  • Reporting to the Regional Supply Chain Manager for Ontario Sawmills you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.
