Position Summary:
Serve as main technical interface between quality managers and quality engineers in ballistics, assembly and supplier areas, and with customer-facing channels of the business. Responsibilities include collection and statistical analysis of data related to internal and supplier quality and leading of associated corrective action and improvement opportunities in collaboration with affected stakeholders, such as manufacturing & design engineering, quality, supply chain, and production, as well as marketing and sales.

The successful candidate will have hands on experience in ballistics, mechanical inspection techniques, a thorough understanding of drawings and specifications/standards, and a deep familiarity with machined and stamped and their manufacturing processes. The candidate will also possess a strong background in statistically based problem solving and process improvement (e.g., six-sigma).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
*Analyze test data as ballistics subject matter expert to inform decisions on in-process quality control in accordance with U.S. DoD standards and specifications. Create test reports from in-process, lot, and first article test activity.
*Serve as primary analytical interface between engineering, manufacturing engineering and quality on design for manufacture and assembly issues and establishing/documenting critical features. Interface with suppliers to facilitate understanding of, and drive improvements to, critical part features and process control and capability methodologies. Lead evolution to automated in-process inspection systems and 1Factory.
*Synthesize data and resolve differences between and within supplier quality inspection data and internal quality inspection data (eg, product samples, first article and follow-on inspections) using analytical quality tools.
*Establish internal measurement systems analysis process and systems, including gage reproducibility & repeatability (Gage R&R), linearity and bias, and recommend improvements once such systems are in-place.
*Work with supplier quality engineers, product line quality engineers, manufacturing engineers and key suppliers to understand, analyze and improve measurement systems and process capability.
*Lead major continuous improvement projects requiring DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) toolset and approach.
*Lead problem solving teams for driving to root cause of internal and supplier quality failures using contemporary problem solving process and data-driven approach.
*Perform as primary interface on customer issues emanating from company sales channels (eg, commercial, law enforcement/military, international and customer support). Analyze failures, and lead development of corrective and preventive actions to respond to customer complaints in a timely manner.
*Lead, or participate as an integral member of, the internal audit team, including development and deployment of internal audit program. Conduct audits and complete associated reports, including audit findings. Facilitate development of proper corrective and preventive actions in a timely manner.
*Lead special projects as assigned, using project management approach, such as launch of in-sourcing and outsourcing opportunities
*Assist Director and Quality Managers and Quality Engineers in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system. Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure New Product Introduction are in accordance with approved data and testing, including appropriate records.

Secondary Responsibilities:
*Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, suppliers, management and fellow employees.
*Facilitate 5S implementation across the plant, with primary focus on manufacturing areas.
*Serve as back-up for product line and supplier quality engineers.
*Seek and act upon ways to improve daily work processes to enhance quality and productivity; look for cost reduction and service improvements; eliminate unnecessary or low priority work; initiate and encourage others to resolve impediments and act on improvement opportunities, both internally and with suppliers.
*Assist in development and maintenance of broader company key performance indicators (KPI's)

Education and/or Experience:
*Degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering or equivalent experience
*10+ years related experience and/or training.
*Ability to interpret drawings, including working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
*Detailed knowledge and experience in metrology and design for manufacture/ assembly concepts.
*Detailed knowledge and experience in root cause analysis
*Detailed knowledge and experience in applied statistics and Minitab statistical software. Six-Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification a plus.
*Basic computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint and MRP systems such as Oracle.

Working Conditions:
*Able to lift packages up to 25 lbs
*Able to travel domestically and internationally (about 25%)
