WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

As a DMD Manufacturing Testing Technologist, you will perform and interpret basic and complex blood bank reagent testing procedures and complete required quality control, as appropriate to state and federal regulations. Recognize testing irregularities, identify the cause, determine the solution and resolve the problem. Assist in problem resolution, and assist in formulating quality control policies and procedures, and ensure compatibility prior to market release.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test materials, chemicals, and/or finished products to quality controls to ensure compliance with quality standards and applicable government regulations.
  • Perform blood bank testing on reagents for use in patient/donor testing to ensure compatibility
  • Assist senior staff with design, develop and implement testing and inspection procedures.
  • Recommend corrective action where necessary and develop quality control practices.
  • May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to others.
  • Advise operating units on quality control standards for materials, chemicals, packaging materials, and finished products.
  • Manage receipt, coordination, shipment and transport of supplied and materials. Assist in daily workflow of quality control. Document supply and equipment problems
  • Manage reagent inventory including ordering, receiving, inspecting and preparing reagents.
    Maintain, edit and review computer and manual records to assure accurate record keeping. Maintain accurate, legible and complete records.
  • Also perform maintenance, repair and validation of laboratory equipment and software maintenance.
  • Assume lead responsibilities such as record review and training. Assist in concern management.

Standard Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5:00pm, with rotating periodic on-call requirements

Pay Information: $39-$41/hour Based on experience

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in Blood Banking, with experience in complex serology is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Chemistry, or MLT
  • Equivalent combination of education and related experience will be considered with reference lab/strong Blood Bank experience; so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined.
  • MT(ASCP) or BB(ASCP) or equivalent certification is a plus
  • Good written and verbal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Leadership skills. Ability to work on a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

You must be able to stand for long periods of time, repeat the same movements, use hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.This job requires the ability to hear and speak clearly. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30pounds.
