Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of Paint Process Engineers responsible for plant operational support.
- Trains, develops, selects, and evaluates Paint Process Engineering employees.
- Assists in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems.
- Manage process and quality related electrical and mechanical projects including installation of new or replacement equipment, continuous improvement initiatives, and periodic repair and refurbishment.
- Participate in functional area plant meetings to represent Manufacturing Engineering and assist in improving the plant's performance.
- Support daily production activities, including investigating conveyor and equipment issues to provide technical input for problem resolution.
- Coordinate with departmental tech support engineers and HQ Vehicle Systems engineers on new model process and equipment planning, including model changes, throughput improvements, sourcing, etc.
- Support GMS and BIQ4 initiatives.
- Manage assigned WSS Performance Safety Standard.
- Enforce safe work practices as the highest priority and implement objectives for improved ergonomics, health/safety.
- Maintain good working relationships with peers, represented & non-represented employees.
- Provide input into the establishment of Manufacturing Engineering plant budget, NPP funding forecasts, and appropriation request estimates.
- Maintain proficiency in his/her field
Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years Manufacturing Engineering experience
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusually difficult
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- High level of written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work OT or off-shift as necessary
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of Process Engineering experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
- Prior salary employee leadership experience
- Experience working in a union environment
- Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
- Experience with painting processes
- Experience with Fanuc Robotics
