Reports to: RN Supervisor
Location: Ambulatory Surgery Center/Endoscopy Center (Varies)
****All Endo Staff have a home base but must be willing to travel to other locations

Position Summary:

Gastroenterology of the Rockies is a rapidly growing Gastroenterology practice in Boulder County and the greater Denver Metro area with eight office locations and five Ambulatory Surgery Centers.

Interfaces with patients, peers, doctors, and other departments to ensure the highest levels of patient care are performed in a fast-paced Ambulatory Surgical Center environment. Assists doctors in the performance of procedures, provides prep and recovery care to patients, assists in training Endoscopy technicians, and maintains timely and accurate patient and business records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collects and/or reviews previously collected patient health information. Identifies relevant and unique patient needs and communicates these appropriately with physician and co-workers.
Performs and coordinates patient prep activities, ensuring that patient is ready as required for the scheduled procedure. Communicates relevant patient concerns to the doctor and co-workers as appropriate.
Monitors patient recovery. Identifies any abnormal situations and potential problems and reports to the doctor.
Provides safe delivery of medications and accurately reconciles medications usage. Follows all facility policies regarding medication administration and documentation.
Assists doctors in the performance of procedures, including the use of equipment. Ensures that the procedure process is smooth, and patient receives the best possible care.
Provides education to the patient and family in a manner that is easily understood by the patient.
Ensures that all documentation is complete, concise and reflects the care that was given.
Participates in staff meetings. Assists in developing ways to meet department goals in a more effective and efficient manner and is an active part of the implementation of new processes and procedures.
Serves as a team player by assisting all members of the care team to ensure center optimization and efficiency.
Completes daily tasks such as reminder calls and crash cart checklist.
In all encounters, acts as the patient’s advocate to ensure optimum patient satisfaction with the experience and care they receive. Always communicates in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that preserves the patient’s rights and dignity.
Helps maintain a safe environment for patients and staff members. Consults manager and physician for management of problems. Acts appropriately in critical/emergency situations to resolve the issue quickly, in accordance with appropriate procedures.
Meets all safety and infection control requirements, including proper PPE and knowledge of safety guidelines.
Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by the management team.

Ability to interact positively and professionally with peers, managers, members of other departments, physicians, and those from outside the company.

Minimum Qualifications:

Active RN License (GI exp. Preferred)
RN (2 or 4 year) degree
Excellent verbal & written skills
High level ability to function in a teamwork spirit with doctors, peers, and other staff
Intermediate computer skills, with knowledge of medical software, (Intergy preferred).

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances.
Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
